Hatchet Multi Tool In Action (Review)

I review a hatchet multitool I found in the garage the other day. It works surprisingly well for splitting the Hobbit Stove firewood into kindling. I am skeptical of the quality of construction though.

It wasnt give it any chance to succeed, yet it still did on several occasions. Its clear the guy didnt think much of it, and basically put forth minimal effort. If you are going to do these type of vids, at least have a non-bias outlook, and let the tool speak for itself. Making negative statements at the beginning, then half heartedly demonstrating the tool, to fit what was previously stated, only makes you look fake.
I have that multi-tool, and i know what it is capable of. Especially when it comes to battoning with it. The hammer side of the head, helps its capability at this. Its the best feature of that particular multi-tool.

Looks identical to mine which is made by not a heavy duty survival tool, but be ok for occasional light camping/small odd jobs/keep in the glovebox of your

How's it guys? I've just bought a pair of these mini-hatchets. I generally don't like multi-tools, but this time I got hooked on this little piece of Aldi stuff. A lot of uses have been mentioned here, but I think the only real purpose that justifies the purchase is using the tool as a splitting wedge. If you have a pair of these, you can split quite sizeable rounds of wood with them, using a wooden mallet to strike the hammer head of each tool alternately. Actually, these small tools are quite excellent for that kind of job, especially in more delicate splitting tasks, where the use of larger wedges would be overkill.

looks like it would be perfect for making kindling and, if the knife blade has a good edge, tinder as well

I recently bought that same exact hatchet tool to replace my Coghlan tent peg mallet because that mallet was taking up to much space in my panniers, though the mallet was a bit lighter but I needed to save space. The bolt tool hole on the hatchet hammer I found very useful for pulling out tent stakes. This hammer part won't be used for anything strenuous just pounding in tent stakes so it should hold up fine for that, though I wonder about using it for a long period of time using the axe to split splinters off other pieces of wood. After I thought about what you said about those rivets holding the head to the handle I'm going to get JB Weld and place the stuff all along the seams where the hammer/hatchet meets with the handle for extra strength, I figure if I do this BEFORE the rivet start to get weak it should hold up a long time. The saw is for small branches, obviously not for cutting down trees, but for cutting stuff that a typical camper would need it for.

The one I saw on Amazon was marketed as a Father's Day gift

I seen one in Walmart along with another one which I think was a hammer with the nail pull and the other one which was the same one in the video

lol! ole lady bought on clearance at walmart and stuffed in my stocking this morning. My first reaction was almost the same '"this looks like a useless hatchet." However, it does look like it would make a nice emergency backup wedge for when i'm stranded on a desert island. Doing a lot of renovation work, it kind of reminds me of a good painter's tool, just more clumsy. I could see the hammer and blades being handy, and I might be able to use the little saw for quickie moulding cuts/mods if I don't feel like reaching for miter saw.

Overall, though it looks pretty useless. Unfolding all four of the blades was more difficult than it should be. Especially the sharp saw that has probably cut everyone who has actually tried to utilize it more than once.

I have one that says mossyoak I go it with a Bowie knife combo. Pretty handy sometimes at work or at home.

Doesn’t look like the handle is long enough to use the hatchet with any success.

That would be perfect if it was a foot longer and was made out of better materials

I have seen better but: this man is not doing a good job just splitting wood. Good tool. If you know how to use it. Sorry Brother.

I'm sure there's probably some really good multi tools out there but if your in the middle of nowhere that one you've got would be better than nothing at least.
