You NEED a Bike Shop in your Life. That is a fact, and in todays BMX History we will tell you why.

We know Bill can get a little long winded, and he goes on these rants about BMX History, he forgets about how old he is. But today's BMX History is a little lesson on why you NEED a Bike shop in your life. S&S Bikes in Pflugerville ( not Round Rock as Bill so eloquently flubbed in the video ) isn't around any longer, but is in the hearts of every BMXer of the 80's and 90's as should be your local bike shop.

Links to shops mentioned in this video - ( and a couple that were left on the editing room floor )

Great video! Great message…support your local bike shop! In Phoenix, Gordys Bicycles is the best bmx shop! They also provide track support on practice and race nights! From service to pads… they know bmx!

100% behind you on this Bill. My local bike shop Ashton BMX in Manchester England, we're central to our local riding scene from 1982 to the end of the 90s. We had sponsorship that was almost factory! We had national, euro and world champs come out of that little shop (Dylan Clayton!) When I started the Renegade BMX Crew, I made sure that our local shop (Dragon Racing, who supplied my Chromo 450Z) & Dirtworks (the UKs oldest track builder going established 1983) had big logos on our race shirts. These people kept bmx going in between fads and fashions, and are crucial to the sport 👊

Here in London my local shop is Better health bikes. They’re always friendly & happy to help even though they don’t specialise in BMX they have got a great understanding of my SUPERCROSS setup & always do a top job!.
I gain advice & purchase parts from Crucial BMX shop in Bristol. They’re always super helpful & have a great shop to hang out in.

My local bike shop just got me one of your last pro XL frames you have in inventory. Just your local bike shop. Help refresh inventory! PS: I should buy the other 4 frames. 😉

S&S was my local bike shop growing up and where I got all of my race bikes and parts. Definitely need more shops like them. Plus, they brought their shop to Capital City BMX weekly if they weren’t at a national. Michelle and Ryan were awesome.

So I am going to start the conversation off - When I was a wee little tyke in the South Bay - I had a few shops I would frequent, Dad's Bike Barn was my main shop, and then Baron's Bike shop. When we moved to Orange County, A-1 Bikes in Westminster, and Valley View Cycles ... What is your favorite local shops???

Favorite bike shop of all time was Round Trip Bike Shop in Casa Grande Az because as a kid I could just stare at the new cool BMX stuff they had on hand. As a kid I loved seeing a well run operation. Now a days I enjoy what the rider owned J&R Bicycles is doing with both retail location and a huge race setup for your trackside needs as well. Bauer Bikes, Gordys, Full Tilt the list goes on!

Loved BMX Unlimited in Calgary, Canada during the early/mid 80's .With the decline in bmx, they changed direction to survive (can't blame them).
Still think about that shop to this day, a young kids' dream spot for bmx candy .

I loved McDowells as a kid in Lake Jackson (Tx) and they also owned the local track. Then rode with the Mountain Bike Depot crew in Oceanside (Ca) for years, Frank was a huge role model. ORP in Houston these days is the premier racing shop and they are great people. The problem is it can be a 2 hour (more with traffic) round trip from a lot of places around the city. Definitely room for another BMX centric shop in H-town. Maybe in 20 years when I retire?
