Established in 1916, the philosophy at Backsberg Estate Cellars remains that of providing pleasure and enjoyment to a broad range of wine lovers by producing wines not only with structure and finesse but also with a high level of ‘drinkability’.

In 2006, this fourth generational family-run farm was certified as the first carbon neutral winery in South Africa, one of only three globally at the time. Backsberg places great impetus on a sustainable future, striving ahead with forward-thinking holistic practices.

Backsberg is the ideal stop for any wine enthusiast. When dining at the Backsberg Restaurant, guests can anticipate a mouth-watering experience. Locally sourced seasonal produce is paired with award-winning wines. The atmosphere is relaxed but welcoming.

In addition, the Tasting Room offers both formal and informal tastings, wine blending, wine pairings as well as memorable cellar tours. Feel free to wander in the magnificent gardens or enjoy a picnic beneath the iconic oaks.
