The Katadyn BeFree is the water filter that I use on overnight hikes, when I have access to water on the trail, or close to camp.
I LOVE it!
My friends have the Sawyer Mini, which I probably would've bought, but I saw this one and loved its simplicity.
I am glad I made this purchase. Sorry to hear that Rex had a problem, but I'm happy to recommend this product.
I also have the Katadyn Hiker Pro Water Microfilter Purifier, which my son had, and we used on the Six Foot Track (a multi-day hike). It is good, but it is also fiddly to use and takes up a bit of space in my pack. Which was why I researched for a better option. Thanks for the 'out of the box' review, and I hope you find it as easy to use as I have.

Mine broke in the parking lot outside of REI where I bought it. Didn't even get a chance to get it wet. Hopefully yours will last a while. I really wanted to like this product.

So what's up with the befree it's been a year. How much did it slow down and can we backflush or not what's up with this filter
