Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen. 1, a very powerful 15.6” mobile workstation laptop that’s the successor to the ThinkPad P53. The laptop has a wide array of ports and is quite upgradable—including 4 RAM slots. It runs your choice of Windows 10 or Ubuntu Linux on Intel 10th gen H series 45 watt Core i5, i7 and i9 CPUs (Intel Xeon also available). NVIDIA Quadro graphics from the T1000 up to our Quadro RTX 5000 Max-Q 16GB are available. The ThinkPad P15 is available with matte full HD and wide gamut 4K IPS displays as well as a 4K OLED option. The computer has Thunderbolt 3, optional 4G LTE, HDMI, an SD card slot and more in terms of connectivity.

She is the only one who review the Workstation laptops consistently. Lisa is great!

Thanks Lisa! I own a P53 with high end specs and still love it. No need to replace it the next years...
Thinkpad feels rock solid and I love the decent look and feel.

It wasn't that long ago that expandability, size, and weight like this was the default for laptops. I'm glad that many models are thinner and lighter for those that don't need it, and that models like this remain available for those that do.

Fantastic vid. Just bought a p15 for my engineering courses and the like. Loving it so far and this review helps to support my decision. Thanks again!

Very nice that you show the keyboard removal, so we can see the roll cage that make the chassis super sturdy and real tank!

Man, those are perfect for me. I really dislike "thin" factor laptops and their compromises in ports and cooling. But the prices are eye-watering. I guess I have to keep my motto of buying two gens old from ebay...

Number pad is one of the reason I am considering a P15/P17.

My P15 last 2.5 hours on battery having 500nits display, Quadro T2000, 32GB and 10875H. That was the only disappointment with this laptop. I do not believe that any configuration lasts over 10 hours as stated by Lenovo manual. However, otherwise the laptop is really really great, I do numerical mathematics and the laptop can handle 4.6G-4.7Ghz single core workload for a long time (hour...). SuperPI 32M test was finished in 420 seconds, which is quite amazing for a laptop (this is the only single core test, which I find relevant for pure mathematical workloads). It has the best passive cooling properties of all Lenovo laptops. Last but not least it has unbeatable manufacturing quality, in this respect this is the best laptop I have ever seen. Real hardware, which you enjoy everytime you touch it.

I use it each each day, every day for the past 2 years and it hasn't had any issues. the fan started getting noisy, but when I opened the cover, I found it was caked with dust. After cleaning it, the laptop runs quietly and reliably. It's a heavy laptop but it's powerful.

Thanks Lisa for such a nice review.... I have a big confusion. I have to either pick this or HP ZBook G9 (Same Processor and Graphics with 32 GB RAM)... Any suggestion which one will be a better choice. Money is not a criteria as this will be an office purchase.

Nice one Lisa. It looks like the traditional Lenovo T series used to be when they were built like tanks. I'm no fan of these fashionable feather weight plastic pancakes, oft passed off as serious laptops. They thermal throttle shortly after switching on and multitasking drags down performance. Drop them on a corner from table a top and it's time to buy a new one.

A question, in your opinion which is better ? This Lenovo p15 or the asus pro art pro 17. You reviewed both, by the way, excellent videos .

I used to want this so bad especially starting from the P53, but now I’m thinking just give me something with a Ryzen 7 and thunderbolt and I’m good!
