If it looks that good now after all those years, can you imagine how ancient Egypt must have looked in its prime days. Wow

Hard to say off the footage. One thing is for sure, you need some incredible hand tools and some ridiculously skilled craftsman if it really wasn't machined

The granite pillar is perfectly cut and well-polished. The Egyptian carving looks very rough. I don't believe they are from the same period.

I'm a brickmason and I've been doin this for 33yrs now and in my experience let me say this; you need PATIENCE. sharp chisels and a good ear to successfully carve anything outta stone, rock .always listening to the sounds each hit u make listening for that one hollow sound. That's how u know it's about to either break where u don't want it to or break where you want it to

Alot of ancient egyptian carvings are questionable, but this seems pretty straight forward in terms of carving, even were it the hardest of stones. Its when you get those statues of diorite where the surface in the bends of elbows or behind an ear are so incredibly precise and polished that it seems impossible to have been done by hand.

The further you go back in time the more advanced the civilization.

Intriguing.. It seems the ancient people like here the Egyptians, had some form of machine with which they polished their statues like those of Ramses II or drilled perfectly smooth holes. We don't know how they did it, but that doesn't deny the existence of such machines.

Those big granite columns are some of the strangest artifacts in the known world for they seem to be from a time undocumented by modern history.

it's obvious the hieroglyphics are low level yet the pillar is machine like....the writings were done by dynastic egypts but the pillar was there long before

Typically columns like this seen at Luxor are made from much softer sandstone. Something this intricate made out of pure granite is actually extradordinary. Meanwhile the hieroglyphs carved into it are very crude in comparison

Look at the clear quality difference between the shaping vs the hieroglyph carving filled with uneven strokes and texture...

Beautiful. We woulnt even design something like this today.

It looks pretty advanced considering it can be taken apart and staked back together. Kinda forward thinking, considering how to replace a damaged piece. And it would be difficult to make one solid post from top to bottom. theres more room for mistakes, and helps to complete a piece.
