Big Ryobi fan because they never obsoleted their tools by changing battery types like so many other brands have done. A 20 year old blue Ryobi tool can use a brand new battery.

Awesome I've owned ryobi 18v one plus line since 2002

I first bought Ryobi in the 90s after I got married and needed basic tools, but being an E-4 in the army couldn't afford Milwaukee or Makita. One of those tools, the stapler, is still in use (never used enough to wear it out) and it uses the new batteries I bought last week. I've only had a couple tools actually wear out. Mostly it's been "give it to a friend or family member and buy a new one" and they all still use the same tool.

I bought Ryobi driver and drill combo kit 10 years ago as a throw away. I beat them and they’re still working. Just added a 2 battery sale deal about 2 years ago.

I think the tool power to battery life ratio is really important. It would be interesting to see if Ryobi will come out with new battery chemistry soon, (I vote for "micro nuclear reactor" technology where heat is transformed directly into mechanical energy).

I guess that’s why we’re seeing some deals on the gen 1 stuff. I just picked up a drill/ impact driver kit with (2) 2 ah High Performance batteries for $97 using the Home Depot hack.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea that Ryobi was introducing these.

The improvement numbers is just over brushed models not their current HP tools.

They have a huge line of tools. Great choice for home.

The handle on the hammer drill is still short, still no metal guard on the circular saw. Come on Ryobi!

All their comparison data is probably comparing to brushed tools

Thanks for sharing, Jeff!
Decided last night not to get the Hercules angle grinder on the big sale since I'd rather upgrade my old blue Ryobi 18V. Was optimistic they had one in today's announcement, but I guess I'll wait.

Saw Torque Test Channel testing the new gen grinder with the new Edge tabless batteries and they were pretty impressed with the performance. I have the new jigsaw and it's excellent.

Im a fan of Ryobi. Mostly use Milwaukee but i have their high torque impact and staple gun and they are both beasts. Plus a few other "non tool" ryobi products like lights and fans.

It seems crazy that Ryobi wants in on the value pro market since Ridgid already occupies that role.
