A good landlord surely is not worried about having to fix leaks or mold etc, cause they’d fix them anyway, right?

Some of these landlords are criminals.

Build affordable social homes not homes with starting prices of £285, 000

It’s not about building more more homes, it’s about building more AFFORDABLE homes. It’s all good and well saying you’ll build more homes but how many will be affordable. Midlands you’ll be lucky to get a 3 bed place for under 150K. Young people earning £9 an hour will never afford it.

Don't waste your time here.

Same discussion that's been going on for the last 25 years.

Nothing will change because profit is king and housing is just another commodity.

Find a solution or leave. Don't waste your time thinking the government cares. These reforms will do nothing.

What might end up happening is that smaller not as wealthy landlords will think its not worth it, leaving more property available for wealthier landlords/banks portfolios.

Will labour be building enough social housing to house all the illegal immigrants? And will they be building any for the native British ? some of who have been waiting on waiting lists for years!

i remember when i was looking at flats to rent with estate Agents after my no fault eviction I needed a 2 bed flat for me and college age son. The prices in our area for a BASIC 2 bed flat were in the region of £900 to £1100 per month. Some were so bad i came out laughing, some were so bad i came out literally crying.

Before Blair and Mass immigration, there were many £30k houses on my street and rents were 175 a month, this is what 10 million extra people in 20 years dose, and 2.5 million in the last 2 years.

Ten million plus immigrants and labour wants the EU freedom of movement. This means the Concreting over the Greenbelt to a graybelt. Britain is the most depleted wildlife Country in Europe and one of the most densely populated.

This doesn't fix the main problem which is lack of affordable properties

He might be a good landlord but plenty aren't. People can't rely on a landlord treating them fairly - we need more rights. We also need more social housing.

Our tenant says about repairs needing only small stuff usually and we organise the repairs and then she dont let them in. Is so annoying.

Landlords saying "its not worth it anymore" because they have to wnsure houses are fit for human habitation is like a chef complaining that he cant give you food poisoning anymore.

What about social housing? The new builds are dire tiny 4 bed flats with no storage
i.e. wardrobes cupboards and no room for putting a wardrobe in let alone with a a bed.
A three cupboard fitted kitchen for a family of 7 in a four bed flat. Its disgusting like whoever designed and approved it is taking this for a joke. Bathroom that you cant close the door if your sitting on the loo because you bang your knees, mould because theres no window or adequate ventilation- if theres a heatwave temperature of 50 c in the property. Hellish. And paying over £1000 a month to a social housing landlord who are part of the housing corporation for the privalidge - The social housing in London is a waste of time and money. Do it properly in the first place. Use premium materials so there are no defects two months later. Build and design properly, so they last and are suitable for a family - Spacious for a family who've waited 15 to 20 years to be adequately housed - not cupboard like quarters. Disgraceful.

FYI, if you have to predicate you're a good landlord before taking about tenants rights, you're not.

What about evicting renters who don't pay the rent and won't vacate? What's Labour planning to do to help landlords who are struggling to pay the mortgage?
