Georgian Legion of Wehrmacht, Abwehr and SS (1941–1945)

25,000 - 30,000 Georgian Soldiers were fighting on the German side in Wehrmacht, in Abwehr and in SS in the World War II against the Soviet union, as in their opinion, Soviet Union occupied their state, their homeland - Democratic republic of Georgia in 1921. They had contract with Hitler, that if Nazis win, Georgia would be independent. No one knows what would happen then, but they thought, that they fought for their national interests. Maybe they were wrong,when they believed it, maybe they were right, but they were not betrayers of Georgia. They were just on the wrong side of History. That was their mistake.

There was an Indian legion as well. Approx 2500-3000 Indian origin soldiers fought on the side of the Nazis against the allies. At that time India was still under the British rule and some Indians considered Hitler as a potential liberator from the British occupation. But things were not actually the way as some Indian intellectuals who supported Hitler believed. Hitler had many times in the past justified the British occupation of India as he considered the British Anglo-Saxons as fellow Germanics. So we are not sure whether or not hitler really would have liberated India from the British if he would have received more support from India. But whatever the case those Indians who fought on the side of Nazis did the best they could at that particular point in time. It was a common belief during that time that my enemy’s enemy is my friend. The British were a common enemy to both Germans & Indians. But then again we had more and more numbers of Indian soldiers who fought on the side of the Allies as well. Basically I am proud of the military achievements of my countrymen who fought for both the Allies as well as the Nazis. We played from both sides 😅.

Btw some of these Georgian soldiers look almost like German soldiers and high officers from the Nazi Party 😳.

So, we can say that Georgian collaberated with Nazis. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Just the opposite you seem to be proud of it.
