People saying they don't look alike, let's be adults... He is an actor, he is not Elvis, HE IS AN ACTOR... Given that cleared, Austin Butler was casted after he sent an Unchained Melody cover to Baz Luhrmann, which Baz himself said "I didn't know if it was an audition or a breakdown, he put his soul on that cover", later on he had a call from Denzel Washington, who said that he worked with Butler in a play and said "That young man has the greatest charisma and acting ethic I have ever seen and he is so young", Baz called Butler and he made a presential audition, Baz knew he found his Elvis... Later on, Austin said that he found out he had something in common with Elvis and is that they both lost their mom when they were 23, Austin spent a whole day trying to look and sound like Elvis but he wasn't satisfied with his audition, he went to sleep and had a nightmare about his mom dying again, he used that grief to sing Unchained Melody and recorded himself and sent it to Luhrman. Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley loved Austin's performance and said that he captured the heart and soul of Elvis like no one, Elvis's closest childhood friends and the people who saw him at his beginnings said the same, he even got 12 minute of standing ovation and his voice changed for two years because of method acting. Not to mention he got ill and spent one week at the hospital after they were done shooting. He loves Elvis, he has the support of his family, so please let's watch the movie and take it as that, a movie, you don't have to like it or hate it... There's no need to, I do like what Austin has done, I think he is great, so that's it.

he studied elvis for 2 years, i’d imagine all the tiny details were just inherently drilled into his brain. when you surround yourself with something for so long and so obsessively, you start to embody those things. it’s only natural, that’s how the human brain is, it’s fascinating! i think he did an amazing job reenacting elvis’s journey and life. i only wish the movie was 3-4 hours long to get all the good stuff in without it feeling rushed!

I went to the cinema two days in a row to see this film, I could have watched it over and over! Absolutely stunning performance.
My father loved Elvis so I have been raised with the music. But this was another level, the film portrayed Elvis in such a way that he’s never been presented before. Exquisite acting by Austin Butler, I don’t care if he stays in character forever. Johnny Depp does with Jack Sparrow, it happens 🤷🏼‍♀️
