Khooni Darwaza, tucked away near ITO is a monument of historical significance. It dates back to Mughal Period but was built by Shershah Suri and was known as Kabuli Gate. However after the mutiny of 1857, it is known as Khooni Darwaza. This place is associated with many sordid affairs in history of Delhi. It is where Aurangzeb displayed the severed head of his brother Darashikoh. Jehangir killed two sons of Abdul Rahim Khankhana and left them to rot at this place only. The place came to be known as Khooni Darwaza when Major Hodson killed Three princes of Mughal Dynasty namely Mirza Mughal, Mirza Khizr Sulatan two sons of Bahadur Shah Zafar and Mirza Abu Bakr , his grand son. The place is also associated with a massacre during the partition of India in 1947.
