Thanks for the video. Was gifted one of these machines and my first roast is cooling!

Hello, I have a new Behmor2020SR Plus and I am very happy. There are five pre-programmed "profiles" so if you do not want to manage the process manually, just use one of those. You only have to listen and press C when you hear the first crack. And then as I learned here you can continue roasting for a selected time (I believed I had to go for the whole Rosetta Stone time, but it is not correct, so I will experiment more).

I just purchased a Behmor and am waiting for it to arrive. In anticipation I have been looking for instructional videos to get a head start on using the unit and obtaining a good roast from the get go. I just watched your video and was impressed, and learned a lot about the process and the nuances of the unit. I know they'll be a learning curve, but hey...I want my curve to be less. Thanks for taking your time to teach the rest of us.

This is a great video. I just bought a 1600+ and I plan on using it for my first attempt

I just installed the Plus panel in my trusty old 1600 and this video is a life saver. Their manual is poorly written. Couldn’t figure out manual mode and screwed up a perfectly good (and expensive) Gesha. Thank you!

Whoo! Those beans looked nicely roasted. My Behmor will arrive next week and I'm really excited! Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks. Cheers!

Thanks for this tutorial! I found it very helpful in going from auto to manual behmor! I just roasted some Colombian Aponte to about city.

Dave - Great videos! I have been using my 1600 for a couple of years and basically using it manually. A friend gave me the 1600Plus upgrade board. I can't wait to install it and try all the neat features you explained. Look forward to any new tips on roasting you come across. I did watch a video while in cooling mode, they used a vacuum to remove chaff, I hate when it gets every where.

I really appreciate your coffee videos man. It really helps. Just recently bought blue bottles coffee book and am leaning a lot. It's nice to see an active roast. Thanks again and keep doing what you're doing. Love your charisma. Take care.

Great video Dave, I learned a lot from it. Could you please do a half pound roast tutorial?

Thanks!! Great video!! I'm still using my old, original 11 year old Behm. The motors a bit creaky on start-up though. REALLY cool to now see all the options on my new plus. It's only taken six months to learn this!! So....why not just remove the chaff flap on the plus? Isn't that what gets hung up? I just tightened the rivets today after a hang up yesterday. That could of been a bit hazardous.

Dave, very good your video, you have used this method for roasting coffee from Brazil ??? Because I found no method to the South American coffees, for Africans this method works very well, congratulations.

Dave, To get the chaff out of your roasted beans, run your vacuum back and forth along the drum while turning it. It will suck most of it out of the beans right through the drum.

Very helpful video, thanks!! I learned how to manual from watching it and making notes.
Quick question for everyone- how much power does it use or how much does it cost to roast a batch of 1 lb, electricity wise? My hydro bill doubled since I start using the Behmor 1600. I live in Toronto.

You have the best Behmor videos out here. Thank you! But I’m very surprised at the temps you can reach? My Behmor can barely get to 305 and most times first crack is complete in the high 290’s (and yes, I do all of the recommended full cleaning cycles)

Best Behmor video I’ve found yet. Thank you! I think I’ve been stopping too soon once first Crack is rolling. I actually pull the beans out, quickly clear the chaff, hit the Cool button and cool the beans in a colander (ala Sweet Maria’s). I will try your method next.
