Everyone has the wrong view of this situation. This actually exposes our system of choosing the President and Vice President for what it actually is, a choice by the parties to raise one of their own to the Presidency. The people are not involved at all, even with their nomination process, it’s all a ruse to make us believe we are participating.

Now with Biden dropping out, how are they going to choose the nominee, are they going to use some process where each State delegation can nominate a number of persons from their own State to be considered by the whole assembly at the convention, or are the party leaders going to huddle up together in a back room and choose the person they believe polls the best against Trump, then force the delegates to nominate that person unanimously in a show of party solidarity. Either way, the people are not participating in the choice at all, but they will be compelled to choose either the democrat or the republican in the general election, which is totally ludicrous to me. With 200 million people meeting the qualifications to hold the office of the president in the United States, they make us choose in a binary choice between two old decrepit, and in some respects despotic, rich white men that don’t share anything in common with the any average American person.

Why does any of this make sense to anyone. Isn’t it time that we actually reviewed the process and see if we are doing it right, and if not, why not!
