Just started a masters in mls and got my bachelor in bio. I was debating whether to go into nursing, become a pa or a doc for the last 5 years, but I think this would be far more suitable for my strengths and would allow me to still help people ♡

Medical Technologist
Are the silent heroes in the medical field they help the doctors in the diagnosis of illnesses that their patients are suffering they are vulnerable in the various infectious diseases like aids and mostly the covid-19 because they are doing the rt-pcr test to unmask the unseen enemies they are in the isolated room wearing ppes too within 8 hours or more they never complain they never post their work to be seen by many thats why they are not well known and recognized as medical frontliners they dont deserve to be left behind in the salary standadization.
Medical lab professionals provide up to 70 percent of patient's laboratory testing to physicians so they can provide an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, according to one study, which also concluded that 94 percent of the objective medical data in the patient record comes from the laboratory professionals.
These tests are not just loaded on machines that do the work, either. Medical laboratory and public health professionals spend countless hours conducting correlation and validation tests to ensure that the equipment and standards are performing these tests accurately. In many aspects, medical laboratory professionals are expert computer scientists mastering complex hardware and software for laboratory information systems to “talk” to the patient electronic health record, equipment technicians, statisticians, and troubleshooters across a diverse landscape of medical expertise.

Medical laboratory professionals in the USA need a strong union that will give them a voice and a seat at the table where important decisions are made at the managerial level and help attract more pay.

CLS/MTs in the USA are too introverted with low self-esteem and it doesn't help them.
The Nurses have come out of their shells and are moving up the ladder of pay and prestige, they've also learned to play the politics involved in the cut-throat capitalist healthcare system, the laboratorians should take a cue and unionize strongly.
