I have the original Parkzone SE5a. It’s slightly bigger but still in the 900m range. I love it. I’m so glad they made a new version of this. Yeah!

The variety in design of aircraft, from the early 1900s, are what make scale models like this the most interesting. There’s a definite nostalgia factor attached to any biplane. Demanding more concentration on landing skills is just part of their charm.

I opened another screen, and played the wonderful main theme to the movie "The Blue Max" while watching you fly this bird. Very cool and fun effect. Everyone should try it sometime.

Years ago, I had the Park zone version of this plane. I really enjoyed it back then. I am so very glad that a WWI foamy like that SE 5a is available again. I love WW1 planes and hope more planes from that era will be made soon. I am absolutely going to get this plane. I pre-ordered this plane.

Looks like you all are having a good time with that one and quickly found how capable it is! Props to Nate for the touch n goes on a hard surface with a WWI plane whose scale counterpart landed on grass 99% of the time and flipped over almost every other landing. It’s not easy to do! The S.E.5a, or the Royal Aircraft Factory Scout Experimental 5a was, together with the Sopwith Camel, instrumental in regaining allied air superiority in mid-1917 and maintaining it for some time. It should be able to do just about any aerobatic or combat maneuver you can think of since most of those maneuvers were *invented* by the pilots flying the S.E.5 and Sopwith Camel! The huge control surfaces on the wings enable it to do some amazing stunts in the air, something they needed to defend against their adversaries, and to shoot their adversaries down. There is machine gun is on the top wing in addition to the synchronized one that was front firing through the prop. The top gun was on a pivot which allowed to the pilot to fire at aircraft above it, in addition to those in front.

ALthough not quite canon, if you get tired of the guy with the scarf as the pilot, you could always 3d print a Snoopy head to replace the pilot's...
