One of the largest concerns in the spring industry today is the availability, or lack of availability of wire.
At Ebsco we attempt to balance Lean Inventory, to reduce production costs and stocking wire to protect
our customers from availability concern.
Ebsco’s size and standing in the spring making industry has allowed us to form partnerships with several
suppliers worldwide.
Many factors can affect the price of the spring making process.
When it comes to materials, the difficulty level of obtaining certain materials strongly affects the price of
making a spring.
“Lead times” also affect the customers bottom line. The longer the lead-time, the more costly the spring.
Here are some Current Lead Times and Availability
Elgiloy can take up to 18-20 weeks and are made at the time of the order.
17-7 Stainless can take up to 8 weeks
Chrome Silicon Valve 16-20 weeks
Chrome Silicon 8-10 weeks
Flat Wire 8 weeks plus depending on size
Oil Tempered Materials .207 or larger must be purchased by the coil, 1,500 lbs. and up.
As you can see some materials can cost you in time and money, so be sure to call us when designing your
spring and we can help you to find more cost efficient but equally durable alternatives.
