Hey. I'm not sure if this has been said. So, I just wanted to add it just in case. This will make editing a lot easier.

So, go into the settings for TalkBack and there will be one gesture that is unassigned. That will be right then up. Set that to editing. After all, there's not really an editing controls shortcut set up by default which is weird. I mean, there is one but it's in a menu.

now, when you swipe right then up, you will get a handy edit menu. You can start selection mode and then using the usual methods, you can change between characters, words, paragraphs and lines. Select what you want. And then, bring the edit menu back up with right and then up. There, you can copy and paste etcetera.

Thanks for the help I have been trying to figure this out with so much frustration over the last few months!

first of all thanks a lot for all your hard work and you're very informative videos i'm only blind for like two months and I really appreciate this little lectures tips and tricks. Especially since I only own Android devices. I'm looking forward to see more of this for example things like how to Open a URL in a video or a comment, or even things like which app in a certain genre has the best talkback support. (e.g. Best music App, best Notepad, etc) otherwise all the best to you and sorry for my probably non-existent grammar skills...

Okay so some tips first. You can use the volume keys to navigate forward and back in edit boxes and for modifying sliders. I find it much easier than that horizontal swipe thing. Also you can tell if your cursor is in front of behind of a character based on which direction you are navigating in. If you're navigating forward then your cursor will be in front of the character. If you're navigating backward then it will be behind the character.

I've had a much easier time with voice typing by using Gboard. I've never had the issue of it writing down what it said but I do have the speech rate set significantly higher.

At the top of your screen if talkback is not on you can pull it down and it has google input or something like that otherwise there is no other way sorry Sam LOL.

Hey @The Blind Life! I was wondering if you could share the keyboard shortcut for dictation on Android you're talking about at 3:04. I can't find it anywhere!
Thanks for the great videos!

I wish I had found this video before! I used to have an android device but I got so fed up with it I switch to an iPhone. My wish is to go back eventually to android. I just hope I could find another blind person that uses it. Because I know that there are some.

Can Talkback be used to read blogs or articles where you get it started reading and it will continue to the end without additional gestures? If not, do you have a app suggestion that would work for my Samsung s23?

The newest version of TalkBack took away the ability to use the volume controls to maneuver around the edit box.. not happy about that! I use earbuds when I edit so that the phone does not catch any sound, words, that will automatically go into the edit box.

That was really informative video tutorial but I can tell you one thing watching same video which you have made for Apple device I can tell you one difference that is in Apple iOS text editing with voiceover is much simpler and very productive compare to talk back

Seems like a total pain. I think I would just leave the mistakes. Without my contacts I voice text and just hope it works. I need to play around with Bixby more to see what she can do as far as reading thing to me.

We're having a problem with our Talkback not doing what yours is doing. When we swipe up and down, it doesn't scroll through a menu like yours. It changes the speech. What is going on?

Hey I'm just watching this video. If you're using a Samsung you can use the Bixby dictation.

Nice video man, informative. I have an iOS device and an android tablet and for the most part I hate engaging in Talkback because it’s not as fluent and as simple as voice-over. Despite all the flaws in iOS 11.
Talkback irritate me to the max.

I want mine to be right next to Z what keyboard were you using.
