A friend of mine was in a Bushmaster in Afghanistan when it ran over an IED. Although the Bushmaster was completely destroyed, everyone survived. Only one soldier had minor injuries. A testament to the vehicle.

Whereas the Army version carries ten, the RAAF version only carries six as extra room is needed for Jacuzzi and Espresso Bar.

Old Australian military gear is often or usually sold to other militaries. Australian equipment has a reputation for excellent maintenance. For example the F-18 Hornets built in the 1980's in Australia, have been sold in recent years to Canada as Australia upgraded to the Super-Hornet and the F35. Amazingly, ex-Australian Mirage III's from the 1960's are still in active service in the Pakistan Air Force.

These are built Very close to where I am in Bendigo. It's a very cool common occurrence to see large convoys of them driving around. There has been a heap of them parked in the grounds where they are built and the amount has got smaller over many months as they get sent over to Ukraine. Amazing Vehicles.

One of the main design parameters was to deliver the soldiers into the battle-space in one piece, ready to fight immediately. The problem with previous troop transports (basically Unimogs and M113s) were that, for the whole journey, you were smashed around, boiled and deafened and arrived exhausted, shaken and pissed-off. The air-conditioning, decent suspension and comfortable seats of the Bushmaster are not luxuries, they are necessities that make a huge difference at the pointy end.

Imagine that in 2007 Australia and other countries used the Bushmaster in Afghanistan and not one soldier was injured inside the Bushmaster for the remainder of the war. Many Bushmasters were attacked with I.E.D.s and no casualties.

I worked at the main storage and maintenance base in Brisbane. Got to clamber around one that had been blown up and shot to shit. Nothing got through. Definitely the choice vehicle for the Apocalypse. :)

There's a wildland fire version as well just so you know. Battlefield armour off, fireproofing on and a big water tank where the foot soldiers would be. Minus the armour but plus fire insulation and firefighting equipment it weighs no more than stock with a 5000-litre water supply and a crew of 5. Edit: OK you covered it

Was built at Thales in Bendigo Victoria Australia. Thales also designed and built the Fire King which was design for use in bushfire setting, South Australian CFS have used them. America have the Bushmaster but they have made some changes to suit their needs. Friend of mine use to build them

I love that you're saying "How're ya goin'?" instead of "How're you doin'?" You always take our Aussie lingo on board 😊 Watching this video, I can see why Ukraine asked us to send Bushmasters to help their war effort. Amazing vehicles.

Just remember that the video is essentially a sales/propaganda piece.
They are very capable vehicles that were designed for a very specific theatre of operations/threat environment.
They are called a PMV not an IFV for a reason. If you make a mistake against a conventional force you will pay dearly.
Awesome piece of kit though, which will no doubt find its proper place

I got hit by a 15kg ied it saved my life I was the crew commander sitting in the front left manning the PWS(weapon system)the ied hit the tyre directly underneath me and I only came out with a concussion and a ruined back for the rest of my life but that beats death 😂The only time I ever heard of an ied breaching the inside was an up armored Dutch bushy it must of been a serious ied to breach inside because that v-shape hull is a lifesaver of a design literally. Speaking from experience the bushmaster hands down was the best vehicle for operations in afghan no other army came even came close to it

Ukraine loves the Bushmaster! The ambulance version you showed had the Ukrainian flag on its door as Australia donates dozens of reconditioned, adapted vehicles to be airlifted to Ukraine.
The naughty Ukrainians happily use them at the front alongside MBTs, not what they are designed for but a much better option than Humvees or M113s because they are quick, "like driving an Audi compared to a Lada". Zelensky keeps asking for more.

It was designed in Adelaide Australia, by Perry Engineering.
I drove behind the prototype in traffic in about 1997

Not only does it have that vhull but it's got a massive 270ltr water tank on the bottom for the soldiers, coincidently adding more protection from mines.

My brother went for an interview with that company a while back. The things he was allowed to see while there was mind blowing. I can only imagine what they had going on that he wasn’t allowed to see lol

One of the very few military vehicles that's designed with aircon rather than it being an aftermarket addon.

BM's also have titanium blast plates that no other tank on the planet has got and just to mention the US has ordered an undisclosed amount ready to be shipped off by the end of next year!!

Some Aussie military stuff is tough. Ive still got a back pack that has done a tour of Vietnam in the early 70's, I humped it around in cadets in the early 80's. Since it's lived in humid conditions till now and it's still in reasonably good condition.
