Is Charles Oliveira the fighter who’s using muay thai most effectively in the UFC?

“Charles doesn’t check.” Proceeds to flawlessly check every single leg kick thrown at him

I heard a good theory on why Oliveira can use a muay Thai stance in mma and it still be affective. He knows its prone for single and double leg takedowns but his guard and submission game is that good people can't utilise it

I have re-watched this fight an unhealthy amount of times but oliveira's fights in general are so re-watchable definitely the most exciting champ in the UFC

What's not to love about Charles as a fighter?

Gets into wild grappling exchanges with great grapplers and is equally willing to stand toe to toe and brawl with the heaviest of hitters.

Most exciting fighter in ufc history.

Being in Phoenix for this was hilarious. Everybody booing Carla and Rose for 25 minutes and then this happens. My friend who doesn’t watch mma came and I told him there’s no fucking chance the main event disappoints, and we all lost our minds during the fight

There was a time when Gaethje looked unstoppable in the division. Oliveira made this fight look easy. It was a prime example of a good fight camp in action. Gaethje's leg kicks are like a fundamental part of his gameplan. But Oliveira was so well prepared and able to dodge them in a way that perfectly set him up for a counter, Gaethje's leg kicks turned into a liability. The more he threw them, the more damage he would take. And without leg kicks, Gaethje is mostly a wreckless brawler that Oliveira could pick apart in the first round. It was amazing to watch.

Charles is legitimately the most calculated, clinical champ in the UFC in the way he throws his strikes/combos. Each movement looks ripped straight from a muay thai/kickboxing/boxing textbook, and I cannot get enough of it.

Olivera has Top 5 best Muay Thai in UFC. He’s really been showing the strength of the Clinch against these MMA strikers.

The pace he puts on is crazy, without a doubt the most entertaining fighter in the ufc.

Charles saw every leg kick coming that fight 😂 I don’t even remember one landing when I was watching.

He is putting people away and clearing out the division while not being a one trick pony, true champ stuff

Charles' muay thai is excellent, but his bjj really helps with his whole style. It allows him to recover when dropped, and discourages people from taking him down, which allows him to keep using the stance. I wonder what an Oliveira with good vision would look like.

Because of this guy i’ll start doing Muay Thai in autumn. i was choosing between boxing, kickboxing and etc. So after his comeback vs Chandler and last two fights against Dustin and Justin. he showed his Muay Thai skills that made me to be in love, motivated and inspired to do Muay Thai

I love how he used the clinch to aim and line up that stiff jab to put Justin away. I'll never sleep on Charles ever again and he deserves to wear that belt again.

I don’t know about the best but definitely a notable example since he’s champ. It’s hard to use specific styles to describe fighters in MMA because they’re more on a continuum and blend into other styles considering all the elements of the sport. He makes good use of the weight on the back foot, checks, clinch etc for sure.

Charles was the smartest fighter against Justin. He saved his legs with that crane leg lift

Once Gaethje fell down Charles immediately teleported in to a rear choke.
