Travel guides - Book review - Personal Development
As someone who has travelled fairly comprehensively, travel guides have always been my base point for information. When I first travelled South East Asia in 2012 it was on the cusp of internet availability. Most hostels were using "Free Wi-Fi" as a sale point, with poor quality Wi-Fi available in one communal room. Smart devices were still a little unreliable especially as data costs were still high for your average backpacker. As such the quickest & most reliable piece of information was to use the Lonely Planet or X place on a shoestring travel guides. I purchased one second hand prior to my South America trip. Even though travel blogs & YouTube videos now form a large part of the planning repertoire; travel guides are still invaluable - with the added benefit of being a screen break for the eyes.
