Fishing. smooth dogfish shark no striped bass.
Private concrete buildings along the boardwalk, shuttered stores, and garbage along the sidewalk.
A sense of isolation pervades the place. A nice dive bar, Rockaway Surf Club, which unfortunately serves beer only in disposable plastic cups. As it is got "surf" in its name, the business could show more concern for the plastic littering the world's oceans. We can all make small changes to improve the environment around us.

Some blame the government for the trash on NYC's streets, but so many simply do not recycle, nor dispose of garbage properly. Too much packaging, too many drinks, and food-to-go containers are part of everyday life.

The Atlantic Ocean by what reminds me of
a suburb of a former Soviet bloc town.
