For four decades Rick Steves has introduced many to the pleasures of international travel, through his popular PBS series, specials and guidebooks. During the pandemic, correspondent Conor Knighton learns, the man who has canvassed Europe's best- and least-known tourist sites has learned the simple pleasures gained in an unfamiliar destination: his own kitchen.

"CBS Sunday Morning" features stories on the arts, music, nature, entertainment, sports, history, science and Americana, and highlights unique human accomplishments and achievements. Check local listings for CBS Sunday Morning broadcast times.

A truly compassionate man. As evidenced by his paying his staff without his business having an income.

I love Rick Steves. He is a national treasure and an inspiration. I can't wait until he is able to travel and create new videos.

Still paying his employees? What an awesome dude! I've been traveling with his guidebooks since 1997, and always liked the man, but my level of respect for him (already high) just went through the roof. Great job Rick!

What a renaissance man! A gentleman! The world is a better place because of him. He’s the reason I want to do Christmas in Europe

"Hi, I'm Rick Steves. Today we're in my kitchen, where the sounds and smells of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese fill the air. It's traditionally served in these delightful plastic bowls from Walmart, which come in a vivid tapestry of colors, dazzling the senses. Those who wander off the beaten path will be rewarded by the Pop-Tart cupboard, where the crumbly and sweet local delicacy is served by the boxful. Visitors eat them warm, but locals know this delicious snack is best served right out of the freezer on a decorative paper plate."

Rick Steves was apart of my Freshman and Sophomore year french classes, greeting us with his travel videos. Had kind of forgotten about him, glad to see he’s well!

When you can't afford to travel abroad especially around Europe, this guy is the answer. I watched most of his travel videos and enjoyed each destination. Power on Mr. Rick Steves.

This guy is up there with Mr. Rodgers, in levels of delightfulness. I know i can never afford to see the world Steve's witness, but i appreciate that he is passionate enough about his work to film it and teach us the beauty in travel.

Super nice guy, when I was a kid in the 80's he was friends with my parents and went to our church Trinity Lutheran in Edmonds.

Sounds like a nice guy. Educating people through travel is a noble cause. Especially nowadays.

I studied hiss GREECE years ago. So when I went on that trip, the tour guide was astounded that I knew so much. I just thanked Rick S.

He did a guest appearance on NPR’s How I Built This. It was amazing. I didn’t know much about this man because I’m only 20 but he’s lived an amazing life
