I am from there. Even though 57 and born, raised and live in South Africa, I visit there every year.

Am there for 3 weeks next month.

The Malayalam I speak is what is spoken at home, so don't understand the formal versions. Also cant read or write.

As much as I love the place, it's very patriarchal and religious heads seem to be intrusive..

So not surprised.
