What Military Strengths Would Finland Bring to NATO

According to the latest reports, Finland's Defense Forces have a small active force of 12,000 troops from a population of 5.5 million, but they have a whopping 280,000 reservists who can fight during wartime, with approximately 21,000 new conscripts are trained by Finland's conscription army annually. In total, around 870,000 Finns aged between 17 and 60 are liable for service in case of need. Compared to Russia's two million-strong army, Finland's force is much smaller, but larger than similarly sized countries like Norway, which only keeps 63,000 troops.

Finland is surprisingly strong military, I watched a documentary on them I didn't realize that they had the numbers and artillery they do for a small country

Having the country of Simo Häyhä in the same alliances with us is a truly honor 🫡

Small correction. 280K is the number of men mobilized for a fighting force if there was a war. Finland's total reserves are around 900K ✌🏻 Besides that small mistake, a well put-together video, keep up the good work 🇫🇮💕

Finland is farm boy strong. If you mess with them thinking they are a pushover, they wreck you.

As much as their military capabilities are well touted, the biggest asset they bring to NATO (same can be said about Sweden when they join) is a security presence in the immediate vicinity of the Baltic states and boy did the alliance need that!

Largest artillery training area in Europe so some countries might train some units there.

Yes they can bring all that and that's good. But we all know that all they need to bring is one sniper 😄

It also adds Lauri Markkanen into NATO which is a huge addition.

Besides David Sling Air defense system Finland has also purchased Spike anti tank missiles from Israel. Arguably the best anti tank missiles in the world. It destroys tanks like no other.

Raatteen, Raatteen raja sekä puomi,
Siihen on nyt kirjoitettu: "NATO ja Suomi".
Hoitamaton talvitie, ja ympärillä mettää,
Suomeen jäätiin koko sakki, palannu ei kettää.

Looking forward to seeing Ukraine 🇺🇦 becoming a fully united country again free from all russian interference and becoming a new member of the European Union 🇪🇺 and NATO as well as the entire russian dictatorship being completely dissolved, stripped of their nuclear weapons, and russia being turned into separate smaller countries with no military power whatsoever!

SLAVA UKRAINE 🇺🇦!!!!

Few comments. 870 000-900 000 reservists are only 50 years or under. Only officers have age 60. But because a lotof people are very good shape in 50+ now can join army and have also extra training. And after reservists we have thing called "nostoväki" hard to translate but u can called home reserve. They are men age 51 to 60 or any volunteer. Finland can arm 1300 000 men and around 25 000 women in wartime. Yes we have enough weapons. Even some must get older ones or even bring you own. We have after Usa most of civilian weapons per capital. People have 1500 000+ rifles at homes. And around 220 000+ handguns. These are legal ones and then there is a lot wich are without licence. Hunting rifles are so powerfull and u can use them at great distance. Its perfect for Finnish terrain. 280 000 is manpower u can get pretty fast. But if war would come 500 000-700 000 soldier would be eventually war time strenght.

Hopefully Finland will be a good example to other NATO countries who have been slacking on contributions to the org. The rule is min. 2% GDP annually, but most don't meet that. Most NATO members have not been serious about the treaty. Germany for example - about1% GDP.

Finland will bring in a lot of F-35 multi-role stealth jets. That is, as soon as the US manufacturers deliver them.
