As a stage 3 colo-rectal cancer survivor. I learned more about my digestive system in this 17 minute video than in the hours of appointments with oncologist, surgeons, radiologist, gastrologists, and nutritional experts. Like many of the comments have already highlighted, the presentation was incredibly informative, yet concise, making it easy to comprehend the process. At the end of the day, my medical team has helped me survive, but I wish I could have been this informed at the beginning of my nightmare.

This guy...knows his shit. No pun intended, I have watched him explain numerous things about the body. He always has the proper medical terminology for the other professionals, but then he also says it in a way that I don't need a 7 year degree to understand him. It makes it enjoyable to learn new stuff. Thanks, I appreciate that.

"Your colon is much cooler than that"
That's the nicest thing anybody has said to me in days.

Thank you to whoever requested this topic and fact check of that irritating ad about toxic poop. Love the scientific, medical, relatable, visual approach with clinical vocabulary followed by the colloquial. Excellent use of YouTube time. Always makes me marvel at the work our bodies do and is a lovely antidote to dysmorphia.

I have taken Anatomy, physiology, and microbiology courses. I wasn’t lucky enough to have such an Engaging instructor in any of those classes. This guy is such a natural teacher! He makes things so interesting you pay attention to see what he’s going to say next. Wonderful videos!

I've suffered with constipation all my adult life, it began during pregnancy with my first baby. It was chronic and got worse with each of the 4 children. I struggled to lose weight no matter what diet or exercise program. At age 40 I finally went and had colonic irrigation with a Chinese was after I had been diagnosed with gall stones which I passed in agonizing pain. I was over weight and felt like garbage. The first day I was on the machine for 2 and a half hours and the amount of old feces that came out was huge. I felt much lighter after amd my swollen belly went down somewhat. I went back the second day and had the procedure again but there wasn't much left and I was completely empty in 10 minutes. The relief was tremendous and I felt much lighter. I stuck to a healthier diet after that but still suffered constipation until I went on a low carb diet and lost a huge amount of weight. The constipation got much better as there wasn't much bulk made up of bread and carbs. Just low fat protein and lots of salads and green veges. It's the only diet that has ever worked for me.

I wish every teacher was as clear, concise, comprehensive, articulate, and engaging as you. I struggled every second through biology, and chemistry, throughout school and here I am watching your videos and am mesmerized. I really appreciate these videos. Thank you.

Dude, you are a natural born educator. Your handle on the topics and your intelligent use of descriptions is a cut above.

I have sat through several college level A&P courses, and have practiced as a nurse for 10 years. This was by FAR the best explanation of the digestive system I have ever experienced. Thank you SO much! I will be showing it to my children and my patients.

not too many people can talk about poop for 18 minutes and be adorable all the while. It doesn't matter what your subject matter is, I love watching you and your videos!

video idea: what is an itch? for example, the sensation, the cause, how the scratch relieves it. Thanks for all this awesome content!!

Absolutely love your videos. I was raised in a medical family, and graduated from Mortuary School in 1977. Wish our anatomy class was like this presentation.

15:47 The reason why the colon looks squeaky clean is because we advise patients to take laxatives and have a certain diet is possible before the actual procedure. But it is normal to find some faecal matter during the procedure. But you can always tell if the patient hasn't followed the prep advice with amount of faecal matter in the colon

Eat a bag of cherries, eat a bowl of shredded wheat, then drink a bottle of tart cherry juice..
You'll crap out things that you haven't seen in years

As a medical person myself, this is very informative. I would also love to see a video explaining fecal transplants and when they are used.
