Equity in Open Education: Challenges and Opportunities

This video introduces the concept of equity and how it intersects with Open Education. Opportunities and challenges which arise in educational settings where equity is pursued are addressed, including:

Opportunities
1. Open Education can improve learner engagement with resources
2. Educators can use OER to provide learners with diverse self-study options for improving their learning

Challenges
1. Lack of access to technology for learners and educators in poor or rural environments
2. Low or non-existent technology budgets at public institutions
3. The effort required for educators to integrate OER effectively can be prohibitive
