I'm (very) late to the party, but I only upgrade my drones every few years, once the price point comes down. I have multiple hobbies, so I am in no rush to get the "latest and greatest" in something.
I upgraded from a Phantom 3 Pro that I bought second-hand years ago to a second-hand Mavic Pro 2 (had 10 hours on it) and I am impressed by the size and build quality for a hobby drone. The speed is great and the radio range is appreciated. My house backs onto a small cliff face that meets the ocean, so it's ideal drone territory. I will say this though, if you have a Phantom 3 Pro, it still has a few entry-level features, so the evolution is more incremental as opposed to total game-changing (IMHO). If you do have the cash, I would definitely recommend the Mavic 2 Pro. Seeing as its been out for well over 2.5 years, I'm waiting for the next iteration (aside from the DJI FPV). If you can only afford a Phantom 3 Pro (or something in that era) then you're still not missing out.
I will also say, if you buy a cheap DJI copy, then you get what you pay skies
