My suggestion is to place a port key near the fight. Sleep at an inn or house and then go to the boss location. Then if you fail just keep loading form last inn

For those that dont know theres an achievement for using Medusas head on Medusa when time passed and she respawn 🤟🏻

You dont have to play thief or use shock damage, as long as it is a slash weapon, and you do enough damage it will work. I got it with warrior no problem.

Quick tip, if you are too strong and might do too much damage to get a preserved head, equip the ring that decreases yoru damage that you get from the Sphix.

You don't need to be thief or have electric weapon. You just need to have a slashing weapon. And through my testing you've better chance as fighter because the long reach of the blade lowers chance of hitting her body and instead clipping her head like you're supposed to. My advice is get to the cave, place port crystal outside, switch to fighter, get a iron sword so you won't kill her too fast, dismiss pawns and throw your pawn into deep water because they honestly get in the way even with the 'wait' command they draw aggro and make her move too much. Stick close to her so when she shoots arrows they hit walls because the blue snake poison sucks and get on her when she does gaze attacks. If lucky she'll drop to the floor letting you get more attacks on her head. Just make sure you see what looks like snakes bursting out so you're attacking head, if it's just blood you're probably hitting body and need to recenter yourself on her back.

The Medusa bow like 15.5 kg but the weight can be brought down via the dragonforge tho you will need to spend wyrmlife cystals the first upgrade drops it down to 7kg hope this helps

Mystic spearhand here. Just killed Medusa for the first time. You don’t need to be a thief; I used Skiedragoun’s Feste to get on her back, clambered the rest of the way up until I got to her head (you’ll know you’re in the right spot when your attacks land on her head/neck area), and just kept hacking 😅 She bucked me a few times but that’s okay. Just climb back up lol

So for the bow, Arisen Trickster, and Pawn Archer without any abilities, you keep the aggro, they do all the work, reap the rewards.

This bow can be a great combo with wayfarer vocation as it levels up all your skill trees

There is a vendor that lets you half the weight of anything from armor to weapons and it seems like the medusa bow is great for anyone playing warferer (like me) who only uses basics with the bow and allowing warferer to level up every class at the same time

Some notes on the medusa head. Any class that can deal slashing damage execution can chop off the head. So no need to be thief. If you use a fighter or war make sure u have a slashing weapon equipped or u will never cut it off. As for the knockdown u don't need a particular element I did it with my warrior using a greatsword with ice affinity buff. (I did try with a blunt weapon as well and the execution would not trigger even though I had her knocked down.) All I did was use high knockdown attacks or just grab on her face and spam light attacks until she dropped then just pressed heavy on her face to execute her and instakill her by chopping of the head. If you struggle with setting up the execution before she dies u can tell ur pawns to wait so they don't attack her and also augment ur gear with dwarven smithing to improve knockdown stat. As for not damaging the boss too much and getting the non preserved version I would suggest trying to get the execution before she looses her second health bar completely. I executed her with like 5% left on her second bar and I still got it so it works. If ur dmg is just too high u can use the ring the sphynx gives u during the duel trial to make ur attacks deal no damage but still build up knockdown. Just make sure u unequip the ring before u execute her.

Use the bow as a warfarer and swap for the kill shot, fixes the stam problem

Maybe electricity is necessary because it's implying a Frankenstein-like effect where the electricity is what preserved the head.

You can use the magic archer vocation to use the paralysis arrow (rank level 5 is needed I believe) to make it go to sleep. Make sure you have hired 2 ponds of thief vocation (in case one dies). After successfully putting medusa to sleep.

Use your ponds to cut off its head by using the d-pad ⬆️ button for "go".

Once the preserved head of medusa is obtained. Immediately find your portal crystal 🔮 nearby to teleport to an IN. Store your medusa head into the deposit slot. Once deposited, the head will not decay.

Make sure to cut off the head on its first health bar.

No, spear staffs don't work. Don't use that vocation, lol. 😅

The gorgon or "medusa" come from greek mythology. Electricity could be a nod to the greek god ZEUS and thats why it has to be electricy to take the gorgons head.

the Medusa bow dropped for me on my first kill, didn't know about the XP boost but I feel like leveling is kinda useless atm without any proper end-game content

If you knock Medusa down in a stun and attack the head while it's in the down state you can get the head.
