Ikea Kitchen - Bodarp Doors Stain and Damage Review

Ikea Kitchen Bodarp stains permanently with cooking oil. This kitchen was also delivered with damaged doors. It needs to be taken out of production.
The material is recyclable plastic bottles. Too soft for kitchen use.

Good thing is that Ikea will replace them if you receive them damaged. If they go bad, you can change the single door easily.

Bodarp is being discontinued in October, replaced with a "painted" bodarp which ive been told will be a gloss finish so i expect easier to clean and less likely to stain.

you are absolutely right about this. It easily got finger marks etc but I love this colour very very very much....i have bought 2 doors and might return them soon.

Just ordered the same colour doors for our laundry and office. Hope it won't get that dirty often. I notice here that there's a missing grey-green panel under the wall cabinets.

Yesterday I tried windex cleaner it helped me to remove all the finger prints and water marks. I buffed up the cleaner after spraying using soft cloth real quick to avoid cloudy marks. I figured out this product after 8 months of struggle. But maintaining this kitchen is really a nightmare. Writing this from NA.

To clean rub with a wet wipe and then immediately wipe with paper towel. You might have to do it a couple of times. It's a pain but it does work. I'd avoid Bodarp in the future.

Its sad to say that IKEA quality has plummeted massively from what it used to be over 15 years ago. They are cutting back more and more on quality for more profit. I used to sing their praises many years ago, in particular their PAX wardrobes as they were solid and the density of the chipboard was very good. Recently I bought 7m of PAX wardrobe and to my horror I discovered their new eco friendly design uses hollow panels for the wardrobes which is insane! I will never buy from IKEA again until they fix that and many other issues.

If you have the space, my top tip is!
do away with wall cupboards to maximise the feeling of airiness in the kitchen, preferring instead a shallow shelf with pot plants. However, the one exception to the no-cupboard rule is an enormous larder that not only houses spices, jars and packets, but also larger kitchen appliances such as the Magimix and the toaster. Add electric sockets so you use the appilances in your larder area.😅

I prefers drawers to cupboards: “It means you can see everything, get to every last centimetre of space, and nothing gets lost at the back.” All my pans are in a deep drawer under the hob, while hand blenders, zesters, tin openers and “all those tools that you never know where to put” are in a slightly shallower drawer, each in their own space within drawer dividers, and then there’s a hidden drawer at the top containing all the cutlery. “I’m an organisational mess but not anymore. I don't like to bend, drawers are great for that😅

that is what ikea is all about trash quality using a very poor qualily laminated boards for their cabinets, better look for an honest and expert modular cabinet maker in your area who uses a marine laminated board not a melamine or particle board for their works.

There is a 25 year warranty on this kitchen system. Get the doors replaced.
