Health experts urge caution as COVID infections and hospitalizations decline in U.S.

The fight against the coronavirus is gaining momentum in the U.S. as hospitalizations and infections continue to fall. As CBS News' Meg Oliver reports, health experts warn the U.S. not out of the woods yet as variants emerge and the Super Bowl threatens to be the next super-spreader event. Dr. Dara Kass, an ER doctor and medical contributor for Yahoo News, joins CBSN's Elaine Quijano with the latest developments on the pandemic.

Every time I hear information about "reopening schools" I think take a look at our schools in the South who have been open since Aug 4th, 2020. Where the states, two week in, asked "please do not share your out breaks". We had healthy children and teachers DEAD by the 2nd month. Plus our downward trend in cases in some areas is because it is harder to get a free test and too many are not seeking medical attention but recovering at home never tested. Some states NEVER stopped indoor dining. Schools require masks but imagine children sweating in school how many times they rub their face and NO mask required on the PACKED school buses by children or driver. Cant we all just get together and try observing all precautions for 90 days regardless of our beliefs. Its a shame to go backwards after almost a year of this but its what we get for listening to Trump from day one. 90 days of a real shut down with precautions with monthly gov assistant this time allowing no excuses while people ate getting vaccinated.

We would belive this "story" if we didn't do our own data studies. This however is outright false. The metrics may have been changed again, or testing slowed down, to produce this result, but over 32k in severe or critical care (up from 24k last month) hardly constitutes a "sharp decline" in cases. Keep selling false hope to sell advertising while sticking to the script and we will keep calling it out along with asking for journalsitic integrity please.
