Alisson would like to have a word. He's a ball playing goalkeeper while at the same time being a world class shot stopper.

Mount has actually settled okay. He got injured but if u actually watched the same he was actually decent our last 2 games wirh him starting. And with onona like really. Yes ddg had the most clean sheets but he was also quite error prone and his post shot xg was below average. He had alot of clangers. Granted onana has had a rough start but to say it was a mistake. Our system was limited by ddg and we played one of the lowest lines in the prem due to the lack of ball playing. Poor take

I know lot of people thinks Onana is a bad goalkeeper but in reality he is very good, let's explain it: first there are three stages to rate goalkeepers:
Shot prevention: Onana is very good at this for example he comes for crosses or sweeps the ball

Shot stopping: Onana is average, I know you think I'm stupid but listen Onana made 2 big mistake and it caused 2 goals but in the Premier league he saved the most shot and made very big save, very big saves+ mistake that cause goals= average shot stopping (his postshotxg say the same)

Playing with feet: he is the best in this with Ederson, he makes very good long pass and short and sometimes he has a playmaker role too in the goalkeeper position

Let's compare with De Gea:
Firstly I want to say I love De Gea.

Shot prevention: he is terrible at this, he was the worst in the Premier league almost always, he almost never come for crosses or sweeping

Shot stopping: he was very very very good in his prime but in the last three years he was avarage like Onana, Made very very good saves+ made big mistake that caused goals= avarage goal stopping.

Playing with feet: very very terrible, I mean he can do 5 meters passes if ther isn't any pressing, but if there is pressing, he had to make long passes, quick passes or risk passes he lost the ball.
Overall I like De Gea but he is lost his unreal shot stopping and without this he isn't for top level, you can see De Gea is still free agent.

I dont get why a goalkeeper MUST be a sweeper keeper. Its definitley a good feature but only if its done right like neuer. If it isnt, its a horrible situation where keeper makes mistakes that lose games. A normal goalkeeper rarely makes mistakes and is well, just better at goalkeeping.

The problem isnt onana himself the problem is our defense is so wack. We got him so we can play high up the field but with the defenders we have we have to play sitting back which limites onana(who i an not making excuses for cuz he has made so many mistakes) but if we keep playing like this then it would have been better to keep de gea

Couldn't dissagree more with the last point, ball-playing goalkeepers are the future and to be a successful team nowadays you NEED a keeper than a can play the ball out to his teammates without having to relly on the old "kick n hope"
