Xbox's UK marketing director Harvey Eagle has said that the console will not function without Kinect connected.

It's okay to require kinect, as long as you're not required to use the motion controls, especially standing up motion controls. The wider install base will just make it better.

As for hardware, you can not make an assessment about the CPU, both are custom integrated chips, the Xbox one actually having more CPU cores then the PS4 one. But since they are custom chips, we'll have to wait and see.

Same for DDR5 as ram, it has always been troublesome as ram and even more as shared ram/vram. These troubles might be overcome in a multitude of ways, but some of them would mean that they don't even get close to DDR5's raw performance.

That's pretty fun and possible but I'm sure we will have specific voice recognition as to our voice in general.

And like the guy below said, the connect just needs to be powered on. You don't have to use it. The Xbox can still function without voice commands and hand signals

They said "Time of flight" technology, as far as I know that is radar technology. Don't worry about light levels.

When I still used my Kinect (a total of about two weeks), at first I positioned it on the floor after using it and later I unplugged it for that reason. I also taped over my notebook camera...

Originally I thought this was a terrible idea when rumors spread around in the past 2 months of this requirement, but now to see how demanding the games will be, it really will take skill to play some games now and it can be a great asset to the Xbox One more than it was for the 360 being an additional add-on. There will be drawbacks about this for sure, but lets see the positives when it comes to E3.

What I want:
- No DRM
- 8GB RAM / GDDR5 (same as PS4)
- Share feature
- A good GPU and processor
- At least 500 GB HHD (confirmed) but 1 TB would be nice
- Ability to turn off the console and then immediatly turn it back on, like PS. Though that's unlikely to happen.
- Ability to use the same Xbox 360 account and still have LIVE when playing on the 360.

Things I would have liked:
- No Kinect-ed.. But that's a small complaint.
- Backwards compatibility.. This kinda defeats the "All in One" thing

I was actually concerned at first. But I'm now confident that Microsoft has learnt from their mistakes and the kinect will perform to a suitable standard for most gamers. I admit a console relying on a gimick isn't the smartest thing to do but it shouldn't effect gameplay as it's main feature relies on voice control.

Well it's like having a webcam always attached to your laptop...except the camera is always on and is more advanced at tracking your every movement

This doesn't necessarily mean that you have to use it. It just has to be plugged in. Plus you can just use it for voice commands instead of all the movement shit.
