Prestidigitation is the most useful, therefore most powerful. Power in utility. Own the means of production.

The wizard said to the nuclear bard
"Amusing, but you are trying too hard.
Oh, it is swell what you make when you sing,
But my little spell can do anything”

[Standing behind the caster. Holds up long pointy dagger dramatically by their faces. Points at it. points at the caster, suggestingly.]

I kinda like the idea of set in stone words that need to be said to cast a spell with no other requirement. Like you accidentally misspeak, and you teleport away because you accidentally said the word for Misty Step or everyone starts dancing because you said the word for Otto's Irresistible Dance lol

If you cast Wish to cast Prestidigitation, you can go full circle! I

at most you can only cast wish once a day maybe twice if you do some janky shit. you can cast prestidigitation an unlimited times per day. you can burn down a village with prestidigitation. more importantly you can start a war with prestidigitation. that's what makes it the strongest spell. the spell of creative freedom.

The musical notes are probably too faint for the universe to hear your wish.

If I was your DM, I’d allow it as long as you could play all the words in the wish on a piano. It’s technically possible, but good luck

Doesn't the player's handbook say "the words themselves aren't the source of the spell's power"?

But like, wouldn’t you still need to learn wish to do this? Like you gotta know what the verbal components are to use them, also doesn’t magic in dnd work a lot like energy? It can’t be created or destroyed, so it has to come from somewhere, most likely the magic is taken from the caster of prestidigitation, it’s just wish with extra steps.

I would argue the Wish spell is the most broken.

Cantrips on the other hand only require a little ingenuity, clever application, and a full understanding of the cantrip’s strengths and limitations.

- Magic Hand: can’t do damage but can drop 5lb rocks on enemies heads.

- Mold Earth: have the rogue and fighter sharpen some branches and you got instant pit trap.

Minor Illusion: it’s an illusion spell, those always useful.

- prestidigitation: this one is pure versatility from simple parlor tricks to keeping your clothes clean and heating your tea. Practically the best roleplaying cantrip.

Wouldn’t that just do both. If you already know the word for wish then why use prestigination to cast it. Where does the power to cast it then come from if not you

The amount of people in the comments who can't take a joke 😂

Very confused. This a joke or are you actually saying a cantrip can produce the effect of a 9th level spell?

Hate to ruin the joke, as I know this is just a joke, but sadly prestidigitation's effects can't be used to cast magic due to the nature of magic and how it is cast. It's the same thing as telling a fighter to cast wish. Just because the only component is verbal or somatic doesn't mean anyone or anything doing the components can cast it. Especially since the name of the spell isn't the true verbal component
