Firefox OS First Look!

It looks like more and more people everyday are looking to compete with the Android operating system by making their own. The Mozilla Corporation is bringing their vision of an OS to devices, unsurprisingly called the Firefox OS. Let's see how it looks.

That is a low resources phone that runs smoothly on Firefox OS. So probably if you flash android on it, it could run, but it'll be very slow..

Over half of all phones sold are iPhones. That's a very dangerous place to have found ourselves.

This is brilliant. I've been using Firefox as a desktop browser for years. I'd like to see Mozilla being much stronger in the hardware game.... and great tactic too to bring something affordable to more of the world.

Actually you were right - until recently, when Google created native apps. Take Google+ Photos, for instance.

the Firefox OS needs a distinct characteristic. Today, the market share of smart phone OS is totally dominant by iOS and Andriod. It really needs a specific function to stand out.

Being able to run on cheaper/low end phones is their characteristic, which I think is great. I'm a cheap bastard who only does web browsing and minimal application use, and would probably buy one of these in the future if things go well for the OS.

the only OS that I haven't tried yet was Windows OS but after I discover Firefox OS.... I decided to keep an eye on it and wait for its progress. It looks good I like the simplicity

True. But I would love to see this come onto more powerful phones in the future. With the current state of Android, Google is holding the keys to the platform. Yes Android is still open source, but the apps that we all take for granted, like the entire Google suite is closed. No one wants an android phone without the Google functionalities.
