In the United States, many Republican politicians are openly calling for a Special Military Operation against the Cartels operating across their southern border, in Mexico. The idea would be to carry out drone and missile strikes on labs and key leadership figures, and if necessary, a full on ground invasion. However, this US missile strike campaign against the Cartels could backfire hard, and actually strengthen their organizations. Even worse, a ground invasion could turn the entire Mexican population against them with a resulting massive guerrilla war.

Friendly reminder that while occupied by well over 100k troops, the opium production in Afghanistan INCREASED dramatically. It was up 400% from pre invasion levels by 2018.

This is not about stopping drug production. It's about seizing control of it.

Why would Americans wage war on the cia?

Frankly, the level of indoctrination and propaganda is unseen before🤦
step 1: arm cartels
step 2: blame cartels and launch the war on terror

If the US government really was interested in eliminating the drug cartels, they would be doing something about their drug culture. But instead, they keep letting the weapons to be sent to the cartels.

Remember, no drug addicts, no cartels.

I can imagine the Cartels rebranding themselves as "freedom and resistance fighters" to the US invasion, and the Mexican people starting to support them, swelling their numbers even further.

It depends on how you define disaster. Remember the US government says the Afghanistan withdrawal was "nothing but a success".

Fun fact: In Mexico it is very difficult to obtain a weapon legally, everything is highly regulated by the army and the government, You cannot even buy certain types of ammunition because they are for exclusive use by the army. most weapons enter through the United States border as well as much equipment.
If you want to fight against narco trafficking it has to be from the border and gun regulation.

US habits : invade a country and then leave it half way

US military interventions tend to be disasters regardless of where they occur.

A better approach in my opinion is to consolidate the border instead, while increasing port security. In other words use their resources to fortify the US. I don't think the US needs another 2 trillion dollar war, they have diluted their currency enough.

Besides the tens of millions of locals who wouldn’t stand for hostile foreign intervention, geography-wise, Mexico is Afghanistan with coastlines.

If that happens, Russia could easily provide modern weapons and air systems to Mexico to stop the American aggression on a sovereign democratic country

"Cartels move their labs into urban areas, hospitals, schools, churches, malls, etc. US Airforce can't do anything."
Knowing US track record intensity of air/drone strikes will increase tenfold.

A lot of people don't see it for what it is. The Mexican president expressed interest in joining BRICS after which every neoconservative in the US started calling for military intervention, Pres.Trump suggested it and those same people called him a xenophobic bastard but...who am I to call out their hypocrisy? 😅

USA: wants the stop drug cartels
Also USA: biggest buyer of the drugs

Lets not forget the Chinese and Russians who might be a little upset at us arming their neighbors. It is incredibly naive, to think that they wouldn't then fund the cartels, resistance fighters (which the cartels will rebrand as), and any other group we are fighting.

It's interesting to note that, at the same time, massive lithium deposits have been discovered and nationalized in mexico. What a coïncidence. Surely cartels are not a pretext

We in México have the mountains of Afghanistan, the jungles of Vietnam and the deserts of Irak, with 126 million people and a GDP above 1 trillion USD a military intervention of Mexico would be the biggest US fail of all times + almost all Latinamerica would go to BRICS+ and some countries of NATO would leave
