An Airstream travel trailer
A Truck Camper
and a Campervan.
Today, I'm bringing you a whopper video where I compare all 6 for Livability, Budget and Hassle!

Sounds like the Wayfarer van is the overall winner.

I wish you would buy a molded fiberglass trailer to live in and let us know about that. I think you might be surprised about the quality of molded fiberglass trailers. Bigfoot, Oliver, Escape, etc.

Happy with my truck camper which I have been living and traveling in all of my 6 years of nomadic life.

If I were to purchase a rig on this list it would be Ram Pro-master then putting a grocery getter lift with rear locking differential so I could still tuck myself into the mountains.
I looked at multiple options and was not happy with any of them. I had a list of needs (power to work on the road) and wants (indoor toilet). Because I was not able to find anything filling a lot of that list - I built my own in the end. I 100% love my 5 X 10 converted cargo trailer that I pull with my 4Runner. I know how to fix it all. Breaking camp is a breeze. I can lock up my trailer and run into town or to attractions and my clearance is high enough I can find camp spots most can not get to (which is good because I'm not a real people person).
I will let you know that I took a lot of that list and saw how the industry was doing it and built it into my rig. I actually have a indoor and outdoor bathroom but no plumbing per se (no freeze issues). I have a covered outdoor kitchen (fully powered with refrigerator) so not to have cooking odors while sleeping but I can pull parts of that in if I choose to cook inside. I actually heat with wood pellets and have propane as a secondary source. No A/C but 4-wheel drive gets me high in the mountains. And as for working wherever - I have Starlink and built the ultimate power system for my needs.
Now, I am a no-frills girl. But many have commented that my CCT is a very homey travelling cottage. I have a lot of storage because I have the two rigs and both can carry decent weight.

I've been solo (with full-size fido) full-time boondocking in the southwest for a few months now. After about a year of research, for ME (not you) the best Goldilocks setup is a 25ft Jayco travel trailer and an F-150 EcoBoost with Ford's Pro Trailer Hitch and Backup Assist technologies. Hooking up the trailer solo is simple one-button-push operation. It's a 7, 500lb capacity trailer and my truck with Towing Package can handle 13, 800lbs. Fully loaded, I get average of 13-16 MPG. Long stretches of uphill really hits that low MPG end. Everyone is different and you pointed out some great pros/cons of your setups. Repairs, repairs, repairs. Both units are new and paid for and I've actually gone two weeks now with nothing gone wrong in the trailer. Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner! Also, setup with Ogo compost toilet (Thanks for suggesting Robin!), 1, 000 watts of solar roof panels and 400ah (soon to expand) of batteries. I've only had to run the gas generator this past week a couple of hours/day due to cloudy/rainy monsoon days to top off the battery bank. I have to run the gennie if I want to use the air conditioner.

Just can't help but think the simplest life is a small home on 10 acres. A large garage and a small truck camper. Robin, you do a great job of not loosing money with these changes and repairs. At the same time, there is no way to build equity like there is with a home on owned land.

Excellent overview of the RV options. A must see and should watch first for anyone thinking of Nomad life. Great work Robin!

I began full-timing decades ago in a 31' Airstream pulled with a Suburban. Got around 10 miles per gallon. At that point, I was doing seasonal jobs taking a month to meander to the next location. So most of the time I was stationary. The space and layout were wonderful for that lifestyle. Kitchen big enough to cook holiday meals, canning foods, etc. Storage and living space are big enough to pursue indoor hobbies without constantly moving them.

Life changes next brought a '70s era VW comping van into my life. Poor mileage for the size, lots of mechanical issues, was very driving in the mountains. It's a fun weekend rig or brief vacation. Not great for full timing.

Life brought another break from it to provide end-of-life support for both parents. Now looking towards a van. Would love a truck camper but the cost to purchase both makes a van the best option for me. I won't be pursuing as much seasonal work. So I'll be driving more frequently making mpg, ease of parking, and finding camping spots more important.

I have found that longer stays cause me to want more living space. Frequent travel keeps me busy enough that I have less time for the activities I need more space to pursue.

Converted Cargo Trailer. We have 40, 000 miles 37 states and 10 months on the road. If something breaks I can fix it because I built it in the first place.

I was fortunate to get a Promaster van for free. I just had to do the repairs. So, now I am looking at converting it. It's just so freeing to think this small thing is all that I have to keep repaired and mobile.

About repairs, my grandma used to say 'throw money at the problem'. If you can afford it, don't worry about it. If you have to do your own repairs, listen carefully to Robin 😊

I am so glad I went with a 3500 Dodge Van built by Alex and Sarah. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, has ever broken, and I have been on the road for over four years. I used to plan my routes and stay at campgrounds, and sometimes I still do. However, I often stay on BLM, National Forest, or rest stops. I can park on the street in cities and towns and have even slept in my van at night with no hassle. I would change two things: having a shower(it takes up a lot of room) - I used Planet Fitness or Camp showers 99 percent of the time. The second thing is my Refrigerator; it works great but is basically on the floor. I have to get on my hands and knees to get stuff out of the back of the Refrigerator, which is a bummer at my age. Well, I love your channel and learn new things all the time. Thanks! 😎🚐🥾

Hi Robyn, yes, I'm very happy with my 2012 Roadtrek RS Adventurous and I've had it for 7 years. There's no perfect RV. If it has wheels, it has problems.

Although we've had some issues, the Roadtrek is very well made.

We tour and travel; we do not live in the campervan. We don't need a lot of power, but, we do have solar and a generator.

One of the best things is the OCCC.... abundant cargo capacity with the dual rear wheels.

One thing I have to say is.... rent a van and see if it's right for you. Changing your rig is very expensive, you've been very lucky with resale. Not everyone will be that lucky. Good videos.
