Well, that's a new one. I never heard of casinos checking ID's at the door but it makes sense regarding self exclusion.

I saw a case when a person who self excluded himself won a jackpot and they refused to pay him.. He said he lost so much up to that point and they didnt care until he won big jackpot

Last week I went to my local Indian casino. One of the male security guards at the entrance asked if I had my ID on me. I started fumbling around in my purse to get it, but I was snickering and a female guard started snickering. The male guard then took another look at me and said “that’s ok, forget it.” A couple hours later when I was leaving, I looked for him so that I could thank him for making this 53-year-old woman feel like a kid again, but it was different guards at the door.

FYI - I am a small person and was wearing a pair of nice shorts but with sneakers and socks, so at first glance to someone who doesn’t know me, I can look pretty young. But maybe that guard needs glasses because I don’t think I look under 21. Anyway, he made my day. :)

In Globe AZ there is a tiny indian casino. They require two forms of ID. My mom needed her ID and her social. A tribe member only needed a tribe ID. They gave her 12 hours. Luckily she lived in phx and only 90 minutes away at the time.

Harrah’s Cherokee in NC checks sporadically at the door.

Where I'm from, in AZ they always ask for your ID, when you win, guarantee they get asked for your idea *again*!
I'm pretty sure the global entry ID would work in Arizona because all the casinos are on the Federal Indian reservations anyway.

Never been checked in Vegas except for players cards & checkins. I bring passport card- has picture on it and drivers license both for id.

My best first jackpot story was hitting a jackpot for $2, 970. My ID was expired and I had to wait until the DMV opened. We gambled all night with my other winnings, went & renewed my ID and went back to the casino and claimed my jackpot lol it was a blast.

They check your ID at Harrah's in Metropolis Illinois. Bally's in Evansville Indiana is hit and miss. Sometimes they do sometimes they don't. Just like checking your purses.

When I was in Canada, they require ID to even enter the casino, which I think is a good idea actually as it can be hard to tell age on some people. I live in CA though and have never been checked for ID in the casino other than to get a new card.

Gf grabbed wrong i.d. and took expired one by mistake. No issue with TSA as Dave said. Hotel said fine for checking in but told her if she hit a jackpot they eouldnt pay. Also had a car rental in her name a couple days later. Had to get her sister come to our house and get current i.d and overnight it to us. $70

Why wouldn't anyone carry their ID with them? Where I live, many grocery stores and restaurants ask for ID when buying a drink/beer, cigarettes (I quit 30 years ago), in some cases lottery tickets, when picking up concert/theater tickets, etc. Most people drive and driving without a license or with an expired license is an infraction. What about while traveling and heaven forbid something happen (car accident, breaking a leg while skiing, or worse).
I guess if someone lives where they don't need/own a car and use mass transit all the time, having a driver's license might be less necessary and one might not care enough to renew it until they need to.
The only reason I can think of for someone not to have an ID with them is if they were potentially involved in an activity where they don't want anyone to know who they are (i.e. committing crimes).

Some Indian casinos here in CA will not give a hand pay if your driver's license and SSI card don't have the same name on both. Example: driver's lic. John Doe / SSI card John Patrick Doe. They will hold your hand pay but you have to go to the DMV and have your middle name added to your driver's license. I know this because it has happened to me :( Major pain in the ASS!!!

Who goes anywhere and doesn’t bring Id? I always have my drivers license on me. I just recently renewed mine online here in Illinois. I don’t remember exactly how long it took to get it but much less than a month. More like 2 weeks. Most casinos don’t ask for Id unless you look very young and they think you might be underage. My almost 100% gray hair implies I’m plenty old enough to be here.
