Its beatiful how he was able to trim a 10 minute video into 48 seconds and still give the most important info

Yamamoto knew exactly what his fate would be as soon as he heard the words "Tora Tora Tora".

I admire Yamamoto because he was against bringing America into the war and he warned about the repercussions of not taking out the US carriers at Pearl harbor!

There has historically been controversy between Barber and Thomas Lanphier Jr. as to who actually shot down the Betty carrying Yamamoto. A 1985 board concluded that credit was shared as both pilots fire contributed to downing the Bettys. Following Lanphier’s death in 1987, Barber’s cause was forwarded to the extent that he is now commonly given sole credit. There is evidence for both trains of thought.

I saw P38s and thought of Rex.

Privileged to have met him and talked about the mission.

I knew an old man from Brownwood Texas who flew P-38 and flew with Dick Bong. His last name was Dirtsche. My spelling of his last name might be wrong. I remember that they were flying a P-51, a P-38 and a couple of more World War 2 planes thru Brownwood and landed at the airport. Mr Dirtsche was taken out to the airport, allowed to get in the cockpit and was interviewed for the news. He was a very kind, very humble man. I'm sad that he's gone.

I saw the longer video on this and the excellent timing and coordination to get the fighters there at the exact time he would be arriving was crazy. He also almost made it. Good job P38s!

Japan's intelligence instantly noticed they sent out the message in plain language(not encoded). And suggested their admiral to change his plan(to visit Bougainville & Shortland Is). But Yamamoto insistedd to go ahead as initially scheduled. And departed on time on the fateful day. Sometimes virtue(like punctuality) works against people.

Australian Intelligence was very important in getting this information.

Sad but Yamamoto he had orchestrated the December 7th. 1941 attack on Pearl harbor. Taking the pages of one of our own Navy commanders that was trying to explain to the upper brass. That Pearl harbor is a death trap. With the upper brass at Pearl harbor before this event, he had shown by using bags of flour with our own pilots coming in at different angles to the POC. Annihilated every ship that was there. Including battleship row and the carriers. The carriers were unable to launch and many of the aircrafts on the base were just destroyed along with with all the ships. Including Ford Island that held all the fuel. They demoted him and pushed him to retire. They just would not believe that that could happen. December 7th 1941 it happened. The emperor of Japan Ash Yamamoto because Yamamoto had studied here in the states and understood with astute awareness of the abilities of this country. He told the emperor I can only give you 6 months of victory ! He explained to the emperor Dad. America is a sleeping giant even to go as far to tell the emperor that America is a sleeping dragon. Will not succeed in the Long haul. They did it anyway. All of my family that I know or know of as far back as world war. I being involved with boots on the ground and in world war II pilots from the US Navy to the USMC. Hoorah semper Fi 🇺🇸⚓🩵
Yamamoto was too dangerous as a strategist to allow him to continue to rally up the troops and was so dangerous to the fact that we did have to take him out. It was not totally a payback. It was because of his knowledge and understanding of our ways. Our way of life and our military might. That's why he needed to be dispatched. 🕊️🕊️🕊️

I have always been a bit ambivalent about this action. I totally understand why it was done, but out of all the leaders of the Japanese High Command, Yamamoto seemed to be the most rational and insightful of them all. If he had lived, could he have been a moderating influence toward the end of the war? We will never know. But Pearl Harbor was still very much on everyone's mind. If the story got out that they had the opportunity to get him and didn't take it, the public would have probably lost their minds.
