On Friday, coup supporters in Niger protested at a French military base near the capital, Niamey, expressing anger towards France and ECOWAS. Demonstrators called for France to leave the country and criticized their control over Niger.

The protests came after ECOWAS considered military intervention in Niger and ordered the activation of a standby force if negotiations for the restoration of ousted President Mohamed Bazoum fail.

The US has urged for a diplomatic resolution but has not explicitly backed military action. The Niger junta has not responded to the latest statements from ECOWAS leaders.

Western cough, cough...interests. ECOWAS don't turn against your brother and sisters but seek dialogue. Africa has suffered enough. ECOWAS leaders, how many Hermes bags your wives and mistresses can possibly own? Greetings from an EU citizen.

If grain becomes too expensive for Africa, Niger has found a way to get more money from France, which was supposed to guard the Minsk agreement. Will France have to negotiate directly with Russia this time, or with the US, who pointed that Europe is paying too little to help Ukraine?

Unbelievable to see there's African countries still liking their colonial master. 😢

Just as Europe needed centuries of war to form a somewhat stable union (and Britain already gone) Africa will live through many more generations of bloodshed before they can even think of uniting.

Even if they protest, what can they do when 70% of their electricity is imported by Nigeria that has cut it off now? Imagine a country that produces the Uranium that runs France's nuclear power plants that produce France's electricity to have to import electricity!!! Even if it would be difficult to operate a power plant in their hot and dry country (they do need heavy cooling systems to operate!), I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible and could even be done in cooperation with a neighboring country so that they share it.

I wonder what they would do without the development brought from Europe. People should start to look at how they create their own problems at home instead of trying to migrate en masse to Europe. Just' saying.
