At this level of football, most players have the ability/power to do this... in practice, or in an unimportant game. Its another thing entirely in a high-level match (i.e. #1 v #2 league, cup final, world cup, club/national team That's why Gerrard is/was amongst the best in the world. Game winning half-volley vs. Olympiakos in Euro elimination game. FA cup final in the dying minutes. Numerous last minute game winners in EPL. There have been many important game winning-tying long distance goals outside of Liverpool, obviously. Beckham vs. Greece, Branco 94 QF winner Brazil vs. Holland, Van Bronckhorst 2010 WC semifinal v. Uruguay are some of the few. But I cannot think of another player who scored so many long distance goals in so many critical matches.
