Plagiarism Or Inspiration || FOAID 2019

Call it a muse or a ruse, plagiarism as opposed to inspiration will remain a subjective argument. This unclarity in its defining borders has been a classic distinction flaw for the creative field. Outright stealing an idea may be plagiarism, while modifying it with your own personal spin may not be. This not being a universal standard is fair, as it kills creativity and unfairly undermines the original creator’s ideas and efforts. On the contrary, we imitate everything we learn and see. We can’t knowingly avoid the existing ideas, especially if it helps in the creation of something else.

The panel discussion on ‘Plagiarism v/s Inspiration’ was an interesting, modern take on an age-old debate. The panel was chaired by Ar.
