Mr Fantano, I believe it’s popular because it’s played a lot

I'm in the "no idea who Shaboozey is" side of music internet.

Unfortunately I think we have to accept that modern pop-country is the most commercially favored genre right now.

Country Rap has been a thing for years. Nelly was made fun of but when he dropped "Over And Over" everyone praised it

If this song was called Good Bar Mad Tipsy you would have given it a 10

I'll take this at #1 over Taylor's 50, 000 versions of the same damn album.

This is the song for people who brag about having black friends.

It’s catchy and it’s relatable to average people with its lyrics about hard work and spending your free time socializing and getting hammered. It also helps that country is having a major resurgence in popularity right now

As an EDM fan, one thing to mention is the big EDM renaissance I've been seeing. When it comes to the party atmosphere, for example, like every weekend I would be downtown during college and its was almost all EDM and DJs.

I’ve only heard a few seconds of this song in another video critiquing how the label hired a firm to make fake stories on TikTok about the artist. That alone made me decide I will avoid it as long as I can until it becomes like the theme song to a Chili’s commercial and I accidentally hear it while watching the prelims to a UFC PPV.

Another big reason why a lot of songs can go #1 in America is radio. It counts for a lot on Billboard. It has more airplay than a lot of the top 10 on the Hot 100. Perhaps it's because it can play on both country and pop radio. It's a very easy song to keep on rotation as it can appeal to many tastes in America. The general public loves that kind of music which, in turn, allows for a lot of airplay. Not experimental, not too unique, appeals to nostalgia (the sample), and just enough of a catchy tune (which is a lot of current mainstream pop and country). Not my personal cup of tea, but yeah it's very much mainstream IG Reel/YouTube Shorts background music taste that the radio loves.

A Bar Song hits the genre it's going for in such a precise radio friendly manner that it's THE 2020s country pop song. In the VH1 equivalent we have in the dystopian future A Bar Song will be what plays when they talk about country music.

If country takes over I’m going full counterculture punk style

Unfortunately I work in a place where radio is a background noise, and no matter the channel this song is played at least 20 times a day.

It’s essentially the “Old Town Road” formula but with a hook that’s a lot more infectious and familiar (“Tipsy”).
Hip Hop will continue be the catalyst to other genres like Rock, House, Gospel, Pop and Electronic/Dance.
It also helps that their isn’t many great summer hits out this year from the other genres
(Pop, Hip Hop, Rock, RnB)
