MV - Sudomemo (READ THE DESCRIPTION)

Показать описание
So this flipnote has gained serious controversy on Sudomemo (the site I originally post these animations on) and I imagine some people may also be "offended" by this. Let me explain you everything before you decide to call me such things as a "heterophobe", "shoving gays and lgbt+ culture down our throats", and "cringy for dabbing so much".
"What is this flipnote???"
This was a response to a homophobic animation made on the Sudomemo site I was talking about. Some guy created a flipnote that called couples of the same gender "abnormal", said he was tired of them and that he wanted his "normal ships back" (straight couples), claiming that Sudomemo was turning all of his good normal ships gay. I'm sure you can understand how this was problematic and even homophobic, and reduced the existence of gay relationships into a joke and a bad fad.
At first I didn't do anything, except tell him out in the comments that what he's saying is stupid/bad. All he did was laugh in my face. Over time it managed to somehow get in the Popular Flipnotes, a page where the most liked animations at the time get posted and left there for a few months. It wasn't on the front page but on the second page (still a big deal) and in the comments, some (not all) people agreed with him. Which made me angry, yes. As someone very passionate about lgbt+ rights and who has the possibility of being interested in the same gender, I was really pissed. So i made this flipnote. I admit, I'm impulsive and I'm not sure what this guys age was (in the case that he's like 10 then maybe I should've ignored him because we all do stupid things when we're young) but no one else called him out for it, and only a few people in the comments agreed that he was being homophobic so at the time, I thought it was needed.
In any case, it's satire guys. I'm making fun of him and other people who treat gay relationships like a fandom/fad that they can get tired of and demand to go away.
"So you hate straight people???"
No, you guys. I have nothing wrong with straight relationships, or straight people who are decent. If two people love each other and they're together, then that's fine by me. Again, remember, this is satire.
"This is heterophobic!!!"
Listen, I don't want to be that person, but even if "heterophobia" is a real thing, it goes nowhere near the seriousness of homophobia and other lgbt+ community phobias. Straight people/ relationships are not denied jobs, killed, sent to get anywhere to get "fixed", face overall discrimination and other things just for existing. I'm sure you can handle me drawing a straight couple in bad anime style and knocking them over as it's revealed they're just cardboard. I t ' s s a t i r e.
"So you're shoving lgbt+ culture down our throats!!! You think you're better than us???"
Funny, because imagine for how many centuries straight culture was shoved down our throats and told to be the right way to be. And even today, the amount of heterosexual/romantic "things" everywhere make the occasional gay kiss and hushed gay relationship in a movie seem like nothing. Even in the media, straight still dominate a lot of it. If you really feel overwhelmed by all the gayness, please, go pick up a book, choose a movie, look outside. There's a 97% chance that you'll see mostly straight couples and you may breathe with ease again.
"Don't fight fire with fire!!"
The reason we say that we're proud and try to fight back is because otherwise, we get silenced. We try to stand taller than all the hate we get to not get discouraged and to not get pushed down again. It's not as simple as treating every relationship as "normal", because in order for that to work every human being on this planet would have to be treating it like that. We're getting attacked and beaten physically and emotionally and people are still expecting us to do nothing in return. Trying to be proud of our identities to normalize it is different than "thinking we're better than straight relationships".
"All that dabbing is cringy!!!"
You got me there man.
Also, it's pride month, the only month we get truly dedicated to us, so be at least be respectful.
