That doesn't look like styrofoam (brand name for closed-cell extruded polystyrene). That looks like a different product entirely.

get the type with the grey dots, dissolve it with acetone, you are left with a grey paste, spread the paste on the cpu.

This reminds me of a particular Aopen brand minipc that we sold at an electronics retailer I used to work for. Aopen had used that white foam-core double sided tape in between the CPU and the heatsink. Granted, it was a very large heatsink - the extruded aluminum lid of the pc chassis doubled as the heatsink- and it was a little Atom N270 cpu, but those machines still failed burn-in testing 100% of the time if we didn't rework them to replace the foam tape with a proper thermal compound. Aopen's response when we questioned them about this moronic design was that they didn't want the lid of the computer to get warm to the touch, as they thought customers would be concerned about the machine overheating if the lid was warm.

Your CPU is over 100°C, the software that reads the temperature just caps out at 100 so can't show anything higher

That's not Styrofoam either, it's polyethylene foam
