I'm riding this train with a Renfe Premium ticket (First Class), and I'll be showing you the journey experience on the Euromed train, from Alacant-Terminal along the Balearic Sea to Barcelona Sants. In fact, this is a medium speed route here in Spain. The high speed routes goes all the way more than 300 kmph. Madrid-Barcelona (more than 600 kms) is a 2 hours and a half.

I can confirm sitting on a wooden bench in the corner is an excellent replacement of the lounge.

a bit of Trivia: if you're wondering why "Talgo" it's an acronym for "Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol" which translates into english to "Goicoechea Oriol Light Articulated Train" Goicochea is the name of the inventor (Alejandro Goicochea) while Oriol is the name of the guy who put the money and gave some advice (Jose Luís Oriol) both of them created the company named Talgo :D

As a regular Scotrail passenger - I'd have tested the water BEFORE the soap! I often find the soap works and the water doesnt. Which is a problem.

I've been on this train and the S-112 and I can say the ride quality was nothing like you describe. I took the same route as you (Alicante-Barcelona) in 2022. So unless something changed, maybe it was an individual train problem, since I was unable to feel absolutely anything on the journey and the ride quality was absolutely perfect. What concerns the S-112, that was the smoothest ride I ever had (and I've been on other HSTs like Siemens Velaro E and TGV set as well). A thousand times better than anything including the Intercity 225 in the UK.

the extra security might be because of the 2004 Train bombings in Madrid, i still remember it passing on TV. i had to do the same in Belgium when i went with the Eurostar to London in 2016.

I took the Euromed from Barcelona to Castellón last fall and I don’t remember the ride being uncomfortable at all. I even fell asleep on the way there! Though maybe my standards are rock-bottom as an American 😅

Hello! When you were entering Valencia, that big grey box was another gauge changer. Amazing video! 👏👏

I rode one of those in Uzbekistan, on the Afrosiyob service to Samarkand last year. The interior was pretty much the same.

I’ve taken that train from Barcelona to Valencia and back… I don’t remember any discomfort during travel.. I know that Talgo trains like to be driven fast because at speeds lower than 70 miles an hour… oscillation begins from side to side… but I experienced that phenomenon on other high-speed trains. High-speed trains do not like to be ran slow.

The security check probably has to do with the 2004 Madrid train bombings.

It has been argued that Talgo trains without the gauge changing technology can be very comfortable. The high-speed train in Saudi Arabia uses Talgo trains on Chinese-built tracks, and they are very comfortable and quiet, according to another travel channel. But it probably has extra suspension, which might be impossible to add to trains with the gauge-changing technology.

Congratulations for a so accurate description of the Spanish train system. Whenever I can travel by train, I definitely discard the plane. !

Queueing or not, Spain’s high speed trains are the best in the world.Decent food and drinks in first class make for a wonderful experience.

All train transport is amazing! As an American, I can confirm that all the trains shown on this channel are amazing! Germans and British people who complain about their trains are really lucky compared to us. We hardly have any passenger trains.

I liked the way this train changes its wheels from broad gauge to standard gauge… Being a high speed train this is rare but a nice feature to have…

Great trip. The train design reminds me about duck. Gauge changing like this is definitely great invention.

The bays of four don't have tables because when the train runs in the opposite direction, one of the rows turns and it's no longer a bay of four.
