INSANE METAL DRUM TONES | Drumforge Bergstrand Review & Demo | Compared to Drumforge Classic

Drumforge just released the new Drumforge Bergstrand, which touts to have the authentic drum samples from Daniel Bergstrand. It is a drum sample library that boasts to have the legendary European metal drum tones. In this video, I tested the drum library in 3 different metal mixes, using no external processing on the drums. I also share my thoughts on the pros and cons of the library, and who the library is for. Additionally, I did a comparison of Drumforge Bergstrand vs Drumforge Classic.

Great video, thank you! How is it on CPU processing? Would you say its comparable to say like Superior Drummer? I use a laptop and to be honest I probably need to upgrade to one with a stronger CPU. I already maxed my RAM, and some sims can cause my DAW (Studio One) to chop a bit at times. Thank you for the help!!

My favorite would have to be Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama. I can literally remember the exact moment of where I was and it has impacted me throughout my musical/producing career. Especially those drum tones! Thanks for all your informative video content! Cheers!

I really love Stabbing The Drama. His drum tones from that point in time is so unique. He used trigger mics for the snare sound ONLY! Basically blending the sound of three different trigger mics without actually applying a sample...

Also Destroy Erase Improve because the riffs and mix were way ahead of its time!

My favourite Bergstrand production would definitely go to Where Shadows Forever Reign by Dark Funeral. My favourite Dark Funeral song, The Eternal Eclipse is on there and I can't get enough of the vibe. It's as if TBDM made a black metal album, I freaking love it.

Thanks for the excellent review; you continue to deliver high-quality content. My favorite album produced by Daniel Bergstrand (alongside Jens Bogren, who I also adore) has to be Stabbing the Drama by Soilwork; the snare and kick drum have a unique sound I've yet to hear on other records.

Sorry mate haven't heard bergstand mixed before but would love to have a copy of this. I dont have any drum libraries or samplers atm. I probably don't know if he mixed that stuff but i do listen to meshuggah

Very good review, contrasting things this plugin can’t do but then explaining how it can be done for example. I’m extremely impressed with this plugin, it has a very modern approach to mixing and if you follow the mixes on NTM you may know what I mean. The sounds in this are excellent and I have just spent then day going through and simply enjoying the drums. On the other hand I have noticed that whenever I save a project or do certain actions in Logic it crashed the DAW straight away, I don’t know if Drumforge are aware of this or not. The second thing is that because these samples are just that, samples made from his collection, so obviously the snare does not have articulations such as off centre or rim shots or ruffs and the like which I find to be very useful in creating a sense of realism in a programmed drum track. This plugin will be fantastic at supporting GGD or SDX3 etc. Worth the purchase on the introduction offer, £50! My favourite DB mixes are the ones he did for Daylight Dies.
