Post Infectious IBS: Road to Cure – Dr. Mark Pimental
While post-infectious IBS, as an entity, has been known for over 30 years, recent data suggest that there is more to the story. We now know that this initial infection causes an autoimmune event linked to changes in gut motility which ultimately causes changes in the intestinal microbiome. The combination of these events leads to the symptoms of IBS including bloating, diarrhea and pain. It is now known that this could account for up to 60% of IBS-D. But, moreover, these findings set up a path for the development of new treatments.

Thank you for this insightful webinar, Dr. Pimentel. Now, it is finally clear to me which gut bacteria are related to which type of ibs! Thank you also for legitimising ibs as a disease rather than a syndrome. Kind regards, Reimara Valk

I must be rare because my Tri-Smart test came back as high H2 and high CH4.H2S was normal. I've battled with Emergency Diarea for 15 years(soon after having two cases of food poisoning about two months apart from the same resturant). According to this I should not have diarea with high CH4, but i'm just slowly starting to figure out what is going on. Great work to you and your team Dr. Pimental!! Please keep going to develope a cure for this dibilitating condition. I'm only 45 and this keeps me from sooo much in life because I always have to be close to a bathroom:(

I have suffered from SIBO for 5 years and I bought several protocols to treat sibo and I spent a lot of money to eliminate this sibo unfortunately none of these protocols worked. This sibo disease has become more of a trade. everyone wants to sell their oil without follow-up from practitioners. I am discouraged, I have no hope

It says on the ibs smart website that this test for post-infectious ibs is only for ibs-d sufferers, not ibs-c. So if you have ibs-c you cannot have post-infection?
