As a Retired Paramedic who did service for 37 years, my "battlefield" was the urban streets of the cities I worked. One of which had 4 Prisons in it at the time. The other a Nations Capital City. Soldiers go to war and have a battlefield, our youth are ON a battlefield everyday as well. As a Paramedic, going to calls like a shooting where a family member is calling 911, like in Rodney's case here, when we arrive, we not only have to deal with the patient, but also the family. And sometimes the family thinks you're not working fast enough to help their relative who is the patient. There are a lot of dynamics that come into play in situations like a case like Rodney. I'm so happy he survived. He had 4 things going for him. 1. His niece called 911 IMMEDIATELY, 2. The Police and Paramedics arrived very quickly and got him stable and to the hospital, 3. He ALWAYS had a great support team around him in his family and fiancee and finally 4. And I think this is the most important one of all. He had FAITH to guide him through this trial along with his family and fiancee. Many Blessings to you all. Try to pay things forward. Even just listening, can ease the burden of a friend.
