Ohio Republicans Radical Gerrymandering Explained

Ohio Republicans just passed new election maps so rigged that even the GOP governor says they may be illegal. In a purple state, the new maps give the GOP a 70% supermajority and continue gerrymandering so radical that individual family’s homes had been split in two.

Gerrymandering should be a federal crime with LOONNNNGG prison sentences as a consequence of nullifying their constituents wishes!

I think nonpartisan commissions are the way to go, pretty sure California isn't gerrymandering. Shame the ballot initiatives in Ohio haven't worked out

I think the solution is proportional representation, get rid of districts all together, so instead you have a party runs some candidates and another party and an independent can run statewide, and you make it so if say 5% of voters voted for a candidate or party they get a seat in the house, and if another party and so forth, so it’s roughly proportional to the amount people voted for a party or independent candidates and it can be ranked choice voting or approval voting etc.

The only way to create election results that reflects what the people of Ohio voted is by moving away from winner take all voting and adopting proportional representation or PR for short. PR will produce election result that accurately reflects the level of public support that each party receives in an election.

Oh you think that was bad...
In 2010 the old House that I used to live in was in 3 US DISTRICTS until the courts forced them to change the districts.
My house was carved into the 3rd, 7th, and 9th district.
My parent's bedroom and our living room was in the 3rd.
The Spare room and the dining room was in the 7th.
My bedroom and the kitchen were in the 9th district.

Tell me you know voters don't want to what your party is selling without telling me voters don't want what your party is selling.

We got away from people making rules for us and went to elected officials doing them for a reason.

Both parties gerrymander. Ohio is a GOP gerrymander with a 12-3 House majority. Illinois is a Democrat gerrymander with a 14-3 House majority. If you try to keep communities together it’s not perfectly representative of the state, but more fair.

I love how you guys never cover politics unbiasedly. Why have you never made a video about the Illinois, Nevada or New York gerrymanders and hey radical they were and continue to be.

This really should be illegal idk how it isn’t when one party can jus rule for as long as possible

I have always thought that the district of Hamilton County was unfair because all parties should be represented on the ballots not just one we should have a choice of all parties on the ballots not just one candidate it's just not fair that there is only one on the ballot for the seats or offices that need to be filled

Just look at the policies then vote for that candidate! Why should a district matter? Because democrats don’t want you to look at policies!
