In the framework of the AVANAGRD project, a series of collaborative sensors were used in a feasibility study to develop inline quality monitoring of welding processes, such as microphones, acoustic emission sensors, and thermal cameras, besides of course the arc parameters. In this video, some examples of thermal filming are shown, performed during extreme conditions of GMAW applied on T-joints.

Besides the art that each frame already is, it’s possible to provide key information about process stability that will be translated into welding defects.

Using a combination of those techniques with Artificial Intelligence, there is no limit on what we can reach related to productivity, quality, and zero-defect manufacturing.
